  1. Short showers turned into more or less constant rain yesterday so loop completed and siding added.
  2. Grandson time approaches but another point installed this morning
  3. Some progress. Laid first pieces of track with the manual point mechanisms in place.
  4. A review of all the stock needed for CHIRM has shown that apart from a couple more short length flatcars then need no more stock! So now looking to upgrade some of the models and cull bad runners that seem determined whatever modifications made refuse to run well.
  5. Found the missing windows and doors for the garage and completed the painting of the brick work for the garage. Last image shows fuel truck at Loco spur and sectional hut providing additional space at the metal workshop. A side door was added.
  6. yes lots of different traffic can be used. Kiln Lane a small lockdown constructed layout was based upon a couple of sidings and a line going up to the works.
  7. weathered as if in some sort of stone service, needs additional coats once existing layers have set.
  8. Had hoped wife would bring back a bottle of the real Frankfurter sausages from her Frankfurt visit last week but it seems all I have got is her heavy German cold so a quiet morning completing a second hand NKP 52ft 6 in gondola. Made more interesting with the instructions are in German.
  9. Back of my mind Crumley rang a bell and of course it is the Hull Model Railway Club layout which if memory serves was an interesting design of being viewed as if in a box. This will little project will be renamed Widdershin Gate and if I can ever remember how to change the title of the posting will do so.
  10. Agree but also as it’s a model if the rules mean it’s operating potential is compromised it will end up not being operated
  11. An excellent article on modelling tar paper roofs in the latest edition of model railways hobbyist. https://online.fliphtml5.com/buups/gjpj/index.html#p=1 I think I need to revisit my roofs
  12. Going to be in trouble as the soldering iron was on the floor and slipped off its stand. Switched on what I thought was the power to the laptop…… black burn mark on the Lino!
  13. Whilst looking for the missing windows for the garage came across this little l kit that ended up in the windows box. A small pick up truck moulded in clear polystyrene. Produces a crystal truck!
  14. Decided to have another go at making a small shunting layout using an old board and improved availability of track. Layout designed to reside on a shelf in the small bedroom / office / store room. Board is 5ft 3 in. Idea is that BR bring in traffic and prepare it to send up to a number of works. Part of the track though is in private owner use and BR locos not allowed. Scenery minimal as will be buildings, basically a run down piece of track that is still functioning due to the traffic generated by the unspecified works. Aim again to use as much stuff already purchased. Took opportunity of wife away to make a start but no timescale or end date to aim for, a pick up and put down project. Will see where it goes.
  15. Well done for getting it sorted. All exhibitions deserve support and success in these strange times.
  16. Feeling abit off after flu jab so quiet day reading and a little modelling. House will go next to the lift out section so ground scenics will be redone. Changing slate roof to tar paper version and will be adding a storm cellar door to the basement.
  17. Clubrooms were closed due to Covid but now open and members slowly returning. Progress has been made but obviously not as much as if clubrooms were open.
  18. Picked up a lighthouse kit as new club Lay-out Bardun will need a lighthouse. The lighthouse house being US based will not be used. Might make into a small farmhouse and find a home on CHIRM.
