  1. Sorry to resurrect a thread, but what paint did you use in the end? I have my first 7mm coach pretty much ready for paint now.
  2. I have built this differently from the instructions in that I have built the body and chassis separate. Instruction shave the roof as removable, so yes I have filled the gap between the roof and body end.
  3. State Car 3 I think is just about ready for top coats and another batch of HEA's in progress. Just need to work out what paint colour I need for Royal Scotsman Maroon, I have been given a colour but I can't find reference to it anywhere.
  4. You might start to notice a theme here. Anyone who came to Guildex and popped past the MIOG stand and Dovedale may have noticed me hacking some Easybuild parts about. Well here is the first pictures of an attempt at building a 303 blue train. Still a long way to go and a lot of bits to work out how to do. Bunt a driving car and motor car are slowing taking shape. Next up. While working out how best to do a 303 I started thinking about other Scottish EMUs. With a number of Peter Clark's etches for his 150 DMU's, yesterday was spent mostly hacking these about and soldering. It was actually quite nice set up in the garden. Still a bit to to go but a driving car and motor car body are coming together for a 318 EMU! Finally, I was hoping to do more with this one this weekend, but it will progress. Once I had in mind the basics of how to do the 303 and 318, I then looked at what else was out there. There was mention of a 313 cab appearing on Buzz models stand a while back so I asked Andy about it. He put me in contact with Ian Loffman who had 3D printed parts to make up a 313 EMU, now the 313 is part of the same family as the 314/315/507/508 PEP units. Having spoken to Ian, he gave me a box of prints at Guildex to see what I could do with. This is the first of four bodies to tidy up and get to a point where he will hopefully be able to cast them, and I can do a 314!
  5. First of a number of updates from me tonight, the rest will appear in my Wee Dram layout thread. This is part of a long term project, picked up as a part built kit just before Guildex as it was too good to let go. An Easybuild pullman. But what is it in the process of becoming???
  6. Very little progress to show here of late, but there are things moving forward in the background. Just before Guildex a 58 turned up, so a rush job to get it ready for Dovedale at the show. Also a 56 I was asked about some time back, certainly a challenge and still some work to do, but the basic transfers on 56073.
  7. Preparations are now in full swing for Guildex. This evening I have ben laying floor boards in the signal box!!
  8. I do like a 20, but find them tedious at shows after a while especially if they don't get out of tick over! At one show which will not be named, we were next to a layout that had a sound fitted 31 on it. I asked the chap with the layout what sound file was in the 31 to which he responded its a Brush type 2. Now we spent all weekend next to this layout, there was absolutely no way it was 31 sound chip. It had the unmistakeable whistle of a class 20! Now, as much as do like a 37, especially with a rather thrashy chip, I also have rather a soft spot to the rattle of a 26 or 27!
  9. Well, I suppose I can call myself a published journalist! My first article has appeared in the latest Guild Gazzette. Nothing huge but a nice little four page article. Hope anyone who reads it enjoys it. Afraid you'll have to join the Guild to get a copy of the Gazette if you want to read the full article.
  10. Thanks Rob, your Peasevern Yard was certainly an inspiration. Hopefully comes out how I want. Stockwise there should be an updated after Guildex!
  11. Been a while since I have had chance to get the garden sorted but a visitor last night and an hour this morning have been most pleasurable!
  12. 26032 splutters round the corner heading back to Ayrshire after dropping its load of household coal at Haymarket!!
  13. Get yourself a nice ESU chip!!
  14. I've tried Peters Spares. will try Dapol next then the other option is a set of Easybuild Windows which might fit even with a bit of work!
  15. Another item slowly making its way of the workbench. I was hoping to keep this one under wraps till it was finished, but its time to reveal it. Still needs handrails and door handles re-fitting and I am going to try and source some new glazing as removing it for paint I damages a few bits. Butchery and bodywork as normally by myself with Paint applied by Cameron. All being well this will be pottering about on Dovedale at Guildex.
  16. Platform edging has gone in and some ballasting done I won't do the outside edge of the ballasting until all the walls and OHLE are in, but you get the idea. 26032 has put in an appearance too. Just need to find the windows and finish the weathering and this one will enter traffic.
  17. I suppose it is about time this breaks cover. I have had an SPTE 101 DMU on the go for some time. I have also got a 156 DMU on the go also destined for a coat of Orange and Black. Latest mini project (just waiting transfers) was one of Steve Beattie's Leyland Nationals. I have also had an inkling for some OHLE but don't want a full blown layout without practicing first! So with a scrap 2'x4' board 'Wee Dram' is born. The idea is it will all be very simple but also very cramped and full of detail.
  18. I do like you 37423 in Metals!
  19. Little bit more Corckerhill for me!!!!
  20. Well, no updates in June. been a fairly quiet month, but a lot going on in the back ground! the first of this weekends updates is where I am now at with the Easybuild 101 DMU. Finally got the second car back this week so tranfers added over two nights. My lining isn't the best but it will do. Back through the paint shop this week for a top coat of varnish hopefully then I can get it finished. Hopefully for Shawn at Easybuild to borrow for Guildex.
  21. I should have just read the thread shouldn't I! teach me to do things when I am tired and not paying attention! It was your build that made me think that I could actually do something with Steve's kit. Still a way to go as i brock parts of the chassis trying to get everything to fit. I will scratch build a new one at some point. Windows and glazing to fit but its not too bad. Not quite as tidy as yours but it will do the job! @Steadfast I will drop you a line, its mainly the generic stuff off Robs sheet but with a different Reg plate and destination. In no major rush.
  22. Hi Rob, where did you get fleet numbers and destinations etc from? I've got one in the works at the moment and struggling for transfers!
  23. Yesterday 37693 got transferred to Dovedale for its prime mover to be fitted and some dirt applied. During the first TC (Trian Club) for a while Dovedale also received some attention with the conveyor re-fitted wither building opposite the loader. It is essentially the same building but half relief from https://www.paintinghistory.co.uk/ clad in plastic sheet.
  24. Last min snap of 37693 as it storms the bend with a rake of VGA's on the Deanside Transit catfood train....................
