  1. Nice to see this fine model finished I am in awe of of your Oerlikon. Nigel
  2. Or avoiding a penalty for the late non running of a service?
  3. I would be interested to know if any RMweb members would be interested in idea to crowd fund a 3D printed Oerlikon in 4mm? This is an idea in a very embryonic state currently and requires a lot of planning and engagement of various resources to make this project happen Please can RM members PM me if they are interested as a starting point. Please also be aware that I will be unable to respond to enquires until 03/11/14 at the earliest due to other commitments. Nigel
  4. Having been to an Interview with National Express before Abellio took over I would say the issue is one of culture issues more then a specific company company issue. A lay back attitude with staff that did not appear to be interested in the railway - it was just a job to them!
  5. Colin I think original post is like a closed question where you have predetermined the answer! Many of us rant about our rail company however maybe consider detailing the specific areas to be commented on in order direct comparisons can be made? For the record we do have bus substititions on FGW however I do not have a problem with this when it is for work planned for electrification that has been well communicated. So we need to compare apples with apples otherwise we will all just ranting! I think my favourite Barbie huggers might even like this post! LOL XF
  6. The FGW mailine is a nightmare for a number of factors , on going electrification work, lots of over running or faults after signalling work and a TOC that still does not understand what customer service is about!
  7. Living in Maidenhead I have taken some photos of the train shed. I thought that train shed was going to the Chosley & Wallingford Railway. This might week be the case and it was just the rotten wood that was being removed as the appears to be quick a bit of that..
  8. Nice work and an old Triang EMU as well!
  9. Hi Stan I have a bpnumber of photos of GEC.stock but no drawings however I would be interested in the components you will hopefully be producing. I plan to have 3 GEC sets 1 is already built and the other 2 are WIP however they are based on Farish or Dapol coaches so are a compromise. If I can assist in anyway just PM me. XF
  10. For the underframes I used parts from some scap Graham Farish suburbans again; these were from very old models and 3 sets of them were made of metal whilst the third was plastic and they look a reasonable represenration.
  11. The Oerlikon roof is has quite a shallow curvature which it is hard to produce accurately . I have used plastic DC kit rooves from Charlie's EMU range and altered their profile however I sm having difficulty securing them onto the brass sides and I am also not over happy with their overall look so an alternative solution would be welcome! Nigel
  12. Hi Tony I have a part finished London Road Models Oerlikon EMU and have got what appear to be side elevation 4mm drawings of an Oerlikon 3 car set but without the dimensions, which you maybe able to scale from. I will look for it on my PC and forward you a copy Nigel
  13. A small amount of silicon grease helps too!
  14. I was wondering the same as he is great source of knowledge and inspiration as well has a top rate modeller.
  15. Nice work - If your 465 should fail on acceptance trials, I do very good rates for hiring out my model of the Strawberry Hill former Class 501 Beastie Depot shunter to go out and recover it! XF
  16. I looked in WHSmiths wondered who the target audience is supposed to be!
  17. I think that it was fitted with ETH and became a 75/4 XF
  18. Brian Hardy has a photo of 4 of these locos at the long gone Mitre Bridge NLL Depot in the earlier 1960's, most likely prior to their move to Rugby .
  19. Croxley Tip trains from Neasden - a Pannier Tank 2 brake vans and 2 LT spoil wagons
  20. Thanks Jamie I was working on the viaduct in the back garden so thought I take the photo and the sky and a real tree in the background. Nigel
  21. The whole GWML Electrification Project appears to a fragmented and haphazard way to electrify a railway when compared to the slick way the WCML was electrified in the 1960's i remember the BICC electrification train installed masts at rapid pace along with the "knitting" Is it me or have we gone backwards when it comes to installing new OHLE?
  22. Jim Connor is another person to check out as his knowledge of the North London Railway is amazing and he used to own and publish The London Railway Record and here is a list of some other useful contacts http://www.nlrhs.org.uk/speakers.html XF
