  1. I hope Kenton returns to good health and is amused by the furore his absence from RMweb has caused. Maybe a virtual hug from RMWeb Towers would be a nice gesture?
  2. Oh dear Andy is dangerously near however if he is in the area happy to attend the Marlow and Maidenhead Show as a guest and if he finds him he can bring Kenton too!
  3. Sure Sure it wasn't a hedgehog as pricks have been mentioned on this thread!
  4. I think there maybe corruption in the database as noted a lot of threads a page or so down on the latest posts were months old with no new content an reported to AndyW. I have had no crashing but some slow starts however I do log on through various Apple devices.
  5. Kenton as a person does not really exist, but is RMweb's equivalent of Mornington Cresent!
  6. Do you think there should be a reward for finding Kenton and if so what should it be?
  7. I really like your take on reality and the truth about getting your hands dirty I certainly have from bodily , fluids to sewage, dirty water, numerous nasty chemicals transformer oil and high voltage 3 phase supplies all of whic made me what I am cue comments Doing the not so glamorous jobs gives you an appreciation of the real world mire than a spreadsheet or a customer satisfaction survey every will. There are still many members of the younger generation that will do what it takes and succeed whilst others go for the what they perceive safe bet and hide in big ineffiicent organisations where they can hide away from many of the realities of life, however I think some maybe in for a shock in the not to distant future.
  8. I think we Warners could make some dosh out if of this by selling the rights to a "Where is Kenton Game" to MS and turning him into an Xbox game!
  9. If in your opinion the WCML electrification was spherically upward what about the ECML cut price electrification scheme and the recent appalingly installed Liverpool - Manchester electrification? XF
  10. To be fair things can go wrong the big issue is that there never appears to be a plan in place in able to manage issues that should have been highlighted as risks before the work started. At the least there should be a well structured communication plan for both staff and passengers to keep them up to date with what is happening rather than the headless chicken approach which we witnessed yesterday. The lack of proper apprentiships in enginnering is another concern with box ticking rather than practical skills being the order of the day. Having worked in enginnering/technical related roles all of my working life I regret to report that I have not come across any apprentices over the last 10 years or so who knew how to go about fault finding in a logical and structured way, but rather just swapped parts/competents out random and if the item in question appeared to work it is job done with no testing or verification! Get rid on NVQ's bring back 5 year apprentiships with proper practical and the theory skills such as City & Guilds and HNC/HND's tgat is why British Rail did so well even on a tight budget with great triumphs like the WCML electrification and the HST. Of course ageism had banished older workers to the scrapheap so no wonder the up and coming engineers! of the future are often very vocal but lacking the necessary skills to do the job well.
  11. I understand that the demand for this set has exceeded all expectations this Christmas
  12. Bah Humbug! What dull a World it would be without a bit of humour A very Merry Christmas to all railway workers and replacement bus drivers!
  13. Festive Fun from Heritage Railway Magazine. I hope that no Hornby employees are upset by this!
  14. Maybe RMWeb should have a "The Disappeared Modeller " thread? XF
  15. I hope Hornby produces a 0-6-0 Sentinel as this would complement the 0-4-0 and offer a range more possabilities from Cornish China Clay to The Underground!
  16. I guess Charlie has his hands full sorting things out, so we all need to wait for him got get back on track.
  17. With regards to Bustitution one organisation that manages this very well is TFL/ Underground. They have the advantage of a plentiful supply of buses both from within and without the TFL are with bus stops and routes perrmantly in place and lots of knowledgable staff to help. TFL learnt their lesson with the likes of Tube Lines and services were brought back in house by Boris!
  18. I think no problem if all the equipment has a maximum lifting height is tested and proved safe processes are used.
  19. It looks better than some of the 1960's WCML one though!
