  1. Interesting question and one that I have pondered over. I think that the painting specifications say as you suggest that the firebox should be unlined. But some examples were lined as they went through the shops. Clear pictures are hard to find though there are some colour photos in Gresley's V2s by Peter Tuffrey showing both lined and unlined. I've not found any of 60847 online or elsewhere. I've renaumbered mine and the lining will definitely be going when my examples are weathered. Hope this helps.
  2. I just found it. Added it for completeness. It covers the Capitals and the Elizabethan.
  3. Thanks Eric, and Gilbert, There's an article I've been trying to find that's recorded which A4s ran in he summer seasons from 53-61. From memory Uof SA were Elizabethan regulars. We recently moved finding stuff is a pain. Thanks again for the info.
  4. The latest is Mallard. Which I've already got. So it'll be renamed renumbered to something else. It's got a 1936 A4 corridor tender. Late crest. All mine are late crest...
  5. Thanks Gilbert. I believe Merlin was regularly rostered on the Lizzie. So was thinking of that one. The alternatives would be 60013 or 60028. Is it possible to have too many A4s.....?
  6. Gilbert, quick A4 question if I may. Other than on the Elizabethan did Haymarket A4s show up down south? I've acquired another one (as one does) I've loads of Kings+ locos and wondered if I could justify another Haymarket loco. I've 60009. Like wise Gateshead locos were occasionally on the Talisman? Any others. Thanks in advance.
  7. Interesting detail. Personally IMHO a little bit pointless.
  8. Oh I understand. I got excited prematurely
  9. If they've done heavy duty bogies then perhaps catering stock is on the cards.
  10. Oh looks good. Were they lined at the top?
  11. I think the second maroon version is due later according to the Bachmann website
  12. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm after 2 or 3 in maroon.
  13. Phil, I'm fairly certain that Bachmann have produced both TSO's and SO's in the way you describe
  14. Sounds like you're in "the know".
  15. Possibly because it's only available on a high end product and doesn't have a massive appeal?
  16. Lack of steam and as I said elsewhere. Class 31 why? The market can't be large enough
  17. Ah I understand. No P2 ran with a GNR tender. And although visually similar the P2 high sided tender is slightly lower than the A3 high sided tender. It's a mine field
  18. Thane of fife never ran with a GNR tender
  19. Another 31...? More gimmicks...? Seriously? I'm sure that it'll appeal to some but is there really a market big enough for 3 manufacturers tackling the same prototype?
  20. Yes I remember it well. I brought my 60505 to LB which had similar treatment. I.e weathered. It disgraced itself after a few laps. Not put off I have since aquired 60501. Now running with a late crest and minimal detail differences to date it to 1960 or there about. I'm considering a repaint of that and 60511 but not until the weather in the garden is better (it's where I do airbrushing).
  21. It should be okay. But it doesn't look like it's centred above the axle boss.
