It provokes tempting thoughts

That is stunning. It's such a shame Hornby so thoroughly much up the green on the first run. It'll be interesting to see how 60502 looks. It's been listed since 2021 now due winter this year

On the first page of this thread, there's a table listing items needing to be caught up. I've only looked at the a2/2 and a2/3 (my personal interest ecml) they were April 24. Now Autumn on the Hornby website! Other items leap frogging these items. I do hope Hornby do catch up with these and other items

The LNER speedo was removed from locos as they went into the BR period. There are photos of 60012 with this still in place. I've seen no other example with this in prototype photos. Certainly no preserved example includes the LNER speedo

I completely agree with Mick. I've many Hornby plastic bodied A4s, nonhave that boiler seem. Interestingly the green seems far richerbut the lining isn't as crisp and seems more yellow than orange. I've not seen one in the flesh but that's what the photos indicate

Bit disappointing, though looking at the list of items outstanding from previous years I suppose another light set of announcements was inevitable. I still have liked to see another A2/3. And either a J6 or B16. But it is what it is.....

Hi Jason, what would qualify to improve the model? Thanks
-
Interesting discussion. I've two Brits. I really like them. Early super detail models begging for upgrades must include the peppercorn A1. The Bachmann model is good but for me an overscale cartazzi spoils it a bit. If it were upgraded a crisper model would result. But as has been said to replace dozen or so A1s in my stable would break the the bank. But I'd consider doing it. Back to the Brit, a far better model at the outset and we'll all draw lines in different places. I think what this discussion does show is how difficult it is for manufacturers to produce more miniature wonders to an increasingly expensive and crowded market. There are gaps, within regions and times. Smaller for locos but huge for coaching and rolling stock.

Fabulous!

Thanks. This puts across what my concern would be. It's only in recent years that 3d printing from the likes of LMS or West Hill Wagon works have produced adequately proportioned lamps. Prior to these releases the very overscale springside lamps were the only option. The Hornby lamps revert to overscale lamps on hi- fidelity models.

That looks so much improved

This one is one of mine Tony. I got it off ebay. Advertised as needing repair. I sorted the issue by replacing the decoder. As such, it was a rare bargain- I've no idea who weathered it. All I did was add real coal to the tender

Any idea what the date of that would be. I'm always fascinated when crimson cream disappeared in numbers. Photo evidence seems to suggest 59/60

I've only just come across this thread. Excellent modelling. Very inspiring

Sadly we've waited years for the retooled vehicles for the maroon in particular. Track record would imply that they'll be a long time coming. Catering vehicles, long been requested but a case of - if when.....
-
Sorry no it's a completely retooled model just like the rest of the range.

Absolutely, catering vehicles for all regions is a huge hole. My interest is ECML, there are many varied and interesting catering prototypes with "wow" factor. Articulated and single items like the Thompson RF, or RK. A surprising continued omission. I'm not as familiar with other regions but I'm sure that they are equally deprived.
