Not an old model but I built two of these Comet Thompson's a couple of years ago The bogies are Bachmann. The rest is Comet. They build into lovely vehicles. I was very happy with the results. The couplings have now gone. What surprise me is that prototype pictures tend to shown them as strengtheners in crack expresses by 1960. As the mk1 standard coaches were deployed very quickly. Thompsons in this period seemed to get all over other regions and of course ECML secondary expresses.

The difference for a six car set - which is what I'd be looking at is £100.00

This is a surprising though welcome announcement. As was the 3 pack from Heljan. Three vehicles at almost £200.00 after discount had placed them just about out of reach due to personal circumstances. But at £50 ea purchased over time makes them more accessible. When it comes to duplication like this if niche models the winner is the consumer. I wouldn't be surprised if it's left Heljans accountants scratching they're heads😐

Enterprise looks stunning. But all photos I've seen show it in poor external condition,was it's condition here based on a photo. If so could you let me know where? As I say that looks a gem!

With respect to the Hornby Dublo range - my view is that these will appeal for the most part to the collector. In some respects tapping into the market that some of the kit built loco's you've sold on on behalf of grieving families. The Hornby Dublo range are nostalgia items and a way to make as much capital from existing CAD tooling. Quite understandable Hornby, Bachmann and the others are there to make profit and satisfy share holders. But the cheap days are over in the hobby. A buoyant second hand market is all that helps with stretched pockets.

The Bullied SR stock is £74.95. So no the Thompson's aren't quite the most expensive. Even Bachmann mk1s are between 65 and 70. The vehicles are beautiful. But when cost of living is going up, they (models generally) are chasing fewer and fewer buyers. Its also a deterrent for new comers.

I think the RRP is an horrendous £69.95.

Why CK and BSK, I would have thought the SK would be more popular?

Thanks Gilbert, I've some resided old tooling Thompsons and a couple of complete comet kits. I've a few in new tooling in c/c and I've now a few in maroon. Bachmann have certainly done a good job on them. Hope i can persuade my treasurer that I need more for my birthday!
