  1. Sir Southern Turncoat of Coventry is the rumour up the road in Leicester. Title awarded for humiliating the King in public and forcing him to mix with ordinary Maunsells. The Tower beckons ....
  2. As long as he is doesn't stop at Leicester - I don't want him spoiling Nigel Pearson's chances of setting a new club record at Leicester - 13 down and 6 to go for a new club record sequence of games without a win. Mind you we have had a very strong dislike of Warnock round here for a number of years after one of his moans aimed at our club - so not likely to happen.
  3. I see the Eagle is Landing very shortly again. Must be Michael Caine day as he is simultaneously murdering Zulus on another channel.
  4. Some confusion now, as I've just realised from a recent posting above that SPG* could also stand for the "Southern" Presents Group or the Sausage Proliferation Group.... that's the trouble with TLAs.... *Pretty sure that it's not that slightly unpleasant Met lot, as they would have no business on ANTB.
  5. In Dulci Jubilo - one of the extra jolly versions. Also found the Hornby Christmas Carol cunningly disguised in German "Es Kommt ein Schiff, geladen ....(hoffentlich)" - A ship is coming, laden.......(hopefully)
  6. Quite surprised he decided to let you have one, as he clearly worships Castle Class locomotives, but I understand he is selectively downsizing parts of his collection, as he recently mysteriously "acquired" 1,710 Hornby "Exeters" as a long term investment and is currently struggling for storage space.
  7. ANTB thread follower "Anonymous 66" comes in from the cold and reveals his secret identity: Mods!.........Mods!.........
  8. 1947 photo of the Three Wise Men, then members of the ANTB Junior Modellers Section, asking a policeman for directions to the ANTB "Mad Friday" Christmas bash at the Pack Horse Inn.
  9. Pearson can't believe he's been banished to the stands for one match as a punishment by the F.A., as he has sat in the stands for most of the game for all matches since September 2013 anyway.
  10. I suggest you submit a short "Apprentice" style illustrated business plan, as seen on TV last night, to Hornby: They might look favourably upon it, once they have produced every Pullman coach known to man, wasted several production slots on "graffiti" coaches and gotten bored of producing BR double chimney Castles
  11. A few gobbets of information on this thread (thanks Chrisf) - e.g. post #3 lists a November 1947 formation with relevant coach numbers http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/34455-gwr-post-1942-cornish-riviera-stock/ - tantalisingly probably just a bit "too late" for you, as some Hawksworths are in the formation. Perhaps you could look at running one of the Summer relief trains. Any remaining GWR coach with wheels might qualify for a shorter scratch second relief train
  12. She is much happier now and she doesn't need to visit that other thread, as her P Sets are already perfectly formed. She is seen here receiving the ANTB Celebrity Thread Follower Award for 2014 at Brent Palace Village Hall.
  13. RAILWAY MODELLING WORLD IN SHOCK TODAY! Bachby and Helpol have both announced that they intend to produce models of Hawksworth's 1947 Experimental Biogas Hybrid Shunting Rhino: Artist's (not mine) impression below: A spokesman for one company said: "We have already been out laser scanning black and white rhinos, but locating Swindon's drawings of this unique locomotive and official works photographs is proving problematical. There appear to be no known photographs of the secret nocturnal trials held in South Devon..... we intend to produce models in pristine livery as well as weathered dung and dust livery......we also intend to enable purchasers of this model to backdate their models to original Shunting Rhino condition by fitting removable drovers cabs and Biogas apparatus. Expected release date - not before 2017 RRP - TBA
  14. Nero pops onto ANTB and takes an immediate dim view of the increasing "Southern" content on ANTB: His missus don't seem keen either
  15. T & A's piccy of the "faux" King Richard III certainly looks better than this old wreck: and to get back on topic here's another "real" King Richard III, which met with a similarly bad ending, cut to pieces by Cox and Danks of Oldbury https://www.flickr.com/photos/70607220@N04/6897645691/ along with ten other Kings.
  16. Looks a bit like a certain Council car park in Leicester with a King hidden in it. Mind you he's being backfilled in style in Leicester Cathedral next March.
  17. I think you unfortunately grew up in the "lost decade" for music - thankfully I was already bringing up children by then so missed most of it
  18. OMBD is the ICAO airport code for Dubai International Airport, but I suspect you are referring to the 1980's Synth DirgeMeisters who were once banned from BBC's Swapshop for being too "Gay".
  19. There were "sausage" bonus questions on University Challenge last night and the "Hull and Grimsby Canal" was mentioned by one student ( not studying Geography).
  20. Well I wouldn't back the Fox at the moment - especially if it's in a blue shirt and running about aimlessly with ten other similarly attired foxes.
