  1. How long did these remain in service, and were they mainly local to LSWR lines in BR days?
  2. IIRC the s/h GW-style bracket at Lichfield was put up as a short term replacement in 1973, possibly when the Goods Shed was sold. It probably lasted until Cross City electrification.
  3. Lichfield City (No.2 box Down Home) on this page http://www.roscalen.com/signals/WestMids/index.htm
  4. I'm pretty sure at least one LQ, with corrugated arm, lasted until the blue diesels on the South Staffs line. Now to try to find the picture.
  5. Not that common in the Bescot / Dudley area IIRC, more likely to be on the Zoo Specials than regular freight workings although they did turn up occasionally a 'foreigner' was the only spare loco at Bescot.
  6. Two from Saturday. The first brought back memories of a picture I posted in the early days of the project showing an inspection I went on in 1982 showing a blue and grey saloon propelled by a Class 25 parked on the main line at Round Oak South. The second is the YE shunter and the model of my Grandfather's cabin used as the Shunter's cabin at the end of the sidings Eric
  7. He had a new cap on today, a bit upmarket from the old one. Must be Sofia's influence.
  8. For those who don't know of 'Stacker', this was one of his efforts at Washwood Heath No.4 http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/66035-class-08-shunter-prototype-photos/page-3&do=findComment&comment=916877
  9. Did my mechanical signalling maintenance training on that patch 47 years ago, anything but eerie then. Derailments averaging around 5 per week, but Roy 'Stacker' Steadman was driving the Jocko at No.4 Box in those days. Learnt how to re-rail a wagon using an 08, two chains and several big pieces of wood and metal there.
  10. On the Trans Pennine trail near Reddish yesterday I came across this train load being used for stabling and storage.
  11. All of them. they weren't delivered until 1955 IIRC
  12. Repeat after me, "I have never seen a picture of an original Crosti on my layout area". (Rule 1 may have to be invoked.)
  13. Looks like the system has thrown up the same code for two bidders as their bidding history and feedback rating is different.
  14. Winter is coming, the House Martins are on the move.

I thought the House Martins Broke up years ago I'm supprised they are still doing gigs

  15. Well it is based on a Drummond prototype.
  16. Even down to the contact name, address and telephone number although he does use a different email address, probably for PayPal purposes.
  17. In the early 1960s the oil lamps on the platforms were brighter than the lights in most passenger coaches, DMUs included.
  18. Instructions for banking were covered by Rule 133 of the 1950 Rule Book (sorry, don't have a copy to hand) and Table J of the Sectional Appendix on the LMR. See page 167 onwards of this document http://files.limitofshunt.org.uk/sectional-appendices/br-lmr/western-lines-crewe-and-south-1960.pdf There are a few other bits of operating technicalities in there which may be useful to apply to BCB, such as what you are allowed to do when detaching on the main line.
  19. If you do banking you will need to consider where the banker is supposed to come on. If the gradient is continually rising then the banker would normally be loose and will drop back as the rear of the train passes the crossover, but if there are mixed rising and falling gradients it would be coupled and the train will need to stop to uncouple it.
  20. I remember hearing Bruce Springstein play a concert at Villa Park. I lived just by Hall Green station at the time. For those not familiar with Birmingham it's about 10km as the crow flies. ps. Just seen the wedding pics, hardly recognised you without the hat and ciggy.
  21. Taking the thread back towards topic, has this Bacup info ever been posted? I spotted it on Grovenor's website. http://www.norgrove.me.uk/dmu.htm
  22. Mind where you clean off the MTB and gear. No muddy footprints on the hall carpet.
  23. My first saloon tour in 1968/9 was with a Class 40 covering the Coventry PSB area.
  24. They fetch just about enough to cover the fees and postage on a well known auction site.
