Sunday could be ‘interesting’ with the half marathon course past the leisure centre.

Is there any more information about this? Road closures etc possibly?

Thanks but I could not find a definitive road closure timetable. I'm sure there is one.

It looks like getting in for a 10am start (I'm on a stand and will have "stuff" with me) could be interesting with an 0845 race start time and the Leisure centre just over half way round...

Some of the Missenden team will be there each day - come along to find out what we can offer or just say hello.

Our Summer Retreat and Autumn Weekend are now open for booking so if you'd like to know more we'll do our best to answer your questions.

The centre advise to use the access off South Hill road into the athletics track, there is then a route round to the main leisure centre car park.

That's very much appreciated -thanks

Access tomorrow is from South Hill Road. The centre tells us there will be stewards on hand to direct people but we’re all in the dark about the details. Screenshot from the leisure centre website attached.

Allow a little extra time and safe journeys everyone!

Great day today seeing folks I haven’t seen since pre Covid. Bring your cash, the members sales is very well stocked!

Theres an access lane from the athletics club that comes in near the back of the hall and the traditional way out if you can picture it.

I’ll post any updates in the morning when I get there to open up.

Went today, and well worth the visit. Very impressed with the Challenge Cup layouts. These are all small, recently built layouts using EMGS points and tracks. Wouldn’t like to choose the winner though.

There will be stewards and Marshalls out to direct traffic. The main car park entrance is closed from 8.45 ish. If coming from the town centre, take the third exit at the roundabout, past the usual exit and take the next entrance on the right ( near the athletics stadium). You should be directed past the hall to the car park. If coming from the M3, take the first exit at the roundabout, then as above. We anticipate normality being restored by about 2.00pm.

I went to Expo EM yesterday and had the most wonderful time!  It was just so good to be there after the covid interruption and to see everybody again.  It was very apparent that everyone else was just as pleased to be there as I was and the event had a real buzz about it.   All the features that we had taken for granted at Expo EM were present but I felt that there was a realisation of what we had been missing for the last two years or so.  The saying goes that you don't really miss something until it is gone and I have certainly missed Expo EM.  It was just so good to be back and I shall not be taking it for granted again!

Gerry

P.S.  One dramatic sign of the covid effect was the absolute mountain of second hand stuff on the bring and buy stall - many members seem to have had a major clear-out during the lockdowns and there was more stuff for sale than I have ever seen before.  I too had such a clear out and did very well on the day returning home with a healthily fat wallet!   Thanks to the chaps who ran the bring and buy sales for their effort.

I went along this afternoon for a wonderfully inspiring couple of hours admiring the layouts - not an average one amongst them - picked up a few detailing parts from the specialists and even got to meet a couple of RMWebbers.  With the likely non-return of the Woking show it's nice to know I'm still blessed to have this one almost on my doorstep.

Back home & safely unloaded after a good weekend.

loved watching the trains passing by on South Pelaw, a layout I’ve wanted to see (I’ve spent alot of time in the NE and confused South Pelaw with Pelaw), Consett is a fascinating subject.

All layouts were excellent and great to admire. Great to see lots of friends and familiar faces,  buy a few bits and discuss modelling face to face.

only 1 year to we do it again with Harkness.

Back home safely after a most enjoyable weekend.

Many thanks to the organisers for having us along for what was my first exhibition since Doncaster 2020.

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of people who took the trouble of having a look at the demo of the Manchester EM standards. We even had a visitor on Saturday who was able to tell me about the layout "Presson" built to these standards as he had operated it at an exhibition many years ago.

A big thanks to the RMWebbers who came and introduced themselves. It is good to put a face and a real name to the user names.

I don't think there were more than a couple of minutes each day when I didn't have somebody in front of the stand to talk with and my throat and voice have taken some hammer but it was worth it!

Here's to next year.

Not a finescale modeller myself, but I do really like the various iterations of EM/P4/FS shows, lots of admire and take inspiration from and it's where you tend to find the biggest congregations of pre-grouping which I love.

Having some shows up north to visit will be great, they're coming but I've been missing my visits so they cannot come soon enough.
