I can definitely do some buffers soon, and bogies later. But I will need some guinea pigs to check them out for me.

Would they be etched bogies? My preference will always be for that for durability and low down weight. I'm a little wary of 3D printed buffers too as they are easily knocked.

I'm either absolutely the right person to be a guinea pig - or more likely completely the wrong person. I just have this mental block about using metal over plastics/resins.

I thought you were a hamster?

Those who are interested can find the longer version on my thread, but in a nutshell, Chris P Bacon of this parish has produced etches for a GN Hound Van to D339.   With the addition of some scratchbuilt bits and Mike Trice's 3D printed components for GN 6 wheelers, my example is now waiting for me to get my finger out and prepare lettering so it can be finished off.

Another characterful vehicle which might well be seen hanging around on Grantham once it's in a fully presentable state.

The very sharp eyed might note more vents in the prototype photograph - there are annotations all over the diagram book about various amendments to individual vans, so I've gone with the roof furniture as shown in the clearest photo I have. That van is also in goods livery with the original sliding door. They were teak when built and are illustrated as such in Nick Campling's book, so I've gone with that for my example. The LNER also replaced the sliding doors with a hinged pair.  Dave supplies both sets of sides so either can be built.

Thanks to the good offices of Dave Jobling, Floyd_kraemer on Ebay is now offering the following 4mm items: two patterns of battery box (pre and post 1927) and a regulator box for BGs.

Some of these are scaled down from 7mm, so worth a look if that's your scale of choice.

I had these printed by John Peck this week.

If you're an intensive user of the HMRS lettering sheet as I am, these are some of the bits you run out of first.   Large lettering NE, 10, 12 and 20 ton weights and some of the more common identifiers - with a FRUIT closer to the actual size (the HMRS one is too big).   I've lettered these with them today:

John has the master PDF, so by all means contact him directly if you'd like a set.  I emailed him on Friday morning and they came in Saturday's post, so you can't fault the service.

FK3D have now designed some GE bogies -

They have NEM pockets and a mount for a DCC Concepts pickup. They won't be on ebay yet as just awaiting one more tweak to aid with assembly but should be about £12 a pair.

Also LNER corridor 3rd and 1st seats (I believe at some point the 3rds had the armrests removed/fixed upright?):

Not yet no - the latest tweaked version only arrived day before yesterday, he's going to be making one more change to the bogie to help with assembly then should be good to go.

Rich did say they needed a little work before they appear on Ebay.

Will they do the sideframes only to fit to a brass bogie?

That was how we approached it initially (this is a Roxey frame) -

but in the end we went with a complete set. I don't doubt they could go back to just sides.
