RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted April 30, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 30, 2010 I haven't had to alter the wagons. They made slight contact with the platform copings at a couple of spots and the coping has been trimmed back by a single millimetre. This also allows the Bachmann 08 shunters to pass the same spot without the con-rods striking at the same places, and permits the various Turbostar units to run through the platfrrms without the doorstep scraping along the platform edge. Despite the acknowledged matter of the Dapol ladders it could be argued that it was actually my platforms which were out of gauge
158722
Please check out my web site and my product development thread Pete These replacement ladders look great Peter. We also had the issue of fouling platforms that are very correct in terms of height, gaps to stock etc. Look forward to being able to upgrade the Bullets. RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted April 30, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 30, 2010 Slip through the door when I got home saying you weren't in so naturally I went straight back out again, it was worth it. Lovely stuff and even the ladders don't look bad from normal viewing distances though I concede they won't stand up to close scrutiny like the rest of the wagon. Nice weathering and subtly different on all of them. Only minor problem is that the end without the platform has a droopy coupling on all of mine which will need some tweaking. Worth it? . . . . When can I buy more? I don't know how they do it for such a small price increase but I like it Droopy tension locks and kadees

When can I buy more? I don't know how they do it for such a small price increase but I like it Droopy tension locks and kadees We has a similiar problem when we had a test run on Airthrey Park on Thursday night. The Kadee tails were catching check rails and walkways all over the place. Two solutions. Get the pliers on the tails on the Kadees with your height setting gauge ensure they are all 'set' correctly (as the Dapol pockets aren't that low) OR Junk the pockets and all the rest and fit screw links/instanters to the rake. That is a prerequisite for the Airthrey Park fleet which is all scale couplings. For the Elliott Bridge fleet where we do have some hands free shunting we will need to get the Kadees performing. As for which Kadee? I would suggest no.17? The super shorty. Just as with the Bachmann TEA it is the only one that seems to bring them anything like scale close. The weathered wagons look fantastic. Mine have been despatched and I expect them today. As for my silvery ones for the early ('93) fleet I am happy with the Railmatch satin varnish as the starting point and will post some pics of them once underframe and final weathering has been done. RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted May 1, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 1, 2010 ensure they are all 'set' correctly (as the Dapol pockets aren't that low) Kadees were adjusted as usual but if you look at the pics you can see one coupler is angled down by nearly 2mm where they meet so that really is low. I'll be getting some of the shorty kadees again but had run out so temporarily fitted some 18's to allow my locos to pull them. Going to have a look at them later and decide whether to tweak the Dapol box or body mount the kadees. I prefer the kadees hands off style auto coupling. 158722
My weathered 4 have arrived from Kernow. (Beautifully packed BTW too.) They are stunning. The finest factory weathering yet, by a very large margin. The boys at club who delayed and missed out will be rather sore I suspect. Get those orders in for other Dapol/Kernow treats now........ AP Works. Oakdale
Got some photos here but not sure if they are good enough for what you want http://jdsrailway-ph.../p64580151.html http://jdsrailway-ph.../p64580150.html http://jdsrailway-ph.../p64580146.html plus some other China Clay wagons here http://jdsrailway-ph...c1740765_1.html http://jdsrailway-ph.../p64580452.html http://jdsrailway-ph.../p64580453.html Regards John
RMweb Gold The Fatadder Posted May 1, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 1, 2010 Got some photos here but not sure if they are good enough for what you want Regards John Cheers John, The first two photos are the other type of 'Bullet, however the third (http://jdsrailway-photos.fotopic.net/p64580146.html) was absolutely what I needed! Clearly shows that in 1998 they had already started to get the new OHLE flashes, also shows that all the lettering needs to be a lot cleaner on the boards. RMweb Premium 7013 Posted May 6, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 6, 2010 Must have had a few weathered ones left over, I got one this morning, weathering is superb, china clay spillage is a bit overdone and will be lightly removed. I put the Hornby Roco style couplers on, the wagons do not couple any closer but look better. Not being advertised now so I guess they were snaffled pretty quick
RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted May 6, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 6, 2010 The release might have related to a cancelled order. Kernow stated that very few were available and as they were all of the same number I would suggest someone has reconsidered their need for a train-load of them. I managed to pick up an extra one which will give me six pristine and three weathered.

RMweb Gold Garry D100 Posted May 8, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 8, 2010 Some of the new weathered ones have no ECC branding, just NACCO. Can anyone tell me whn these would have entered service. My time line is upto early 90's, I can find plenty of pictures around 89/90 for those with ECC branding but none without unless its very recent. Thanks. Gulliver
There is a great collection of pictures here: - http://wagons.fotopic.net/c1496117.html Shows them working services into Cornwall with and without ECC logo, and also on West Coast Main Line services to Wembley and on to Dollands Moor, presumably to work onwards through the Channel Tunnel. RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted May 8, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 8, 2010 It's going to be an expensive trip over in September The possibility of three Beattie well tanks to collect and now three more "mostly-weathered" bullets on top of the three weathered ones already in the mail. Guess I'll have to press my shirt and go back to work on Monday .....
