I saw 47461 many many times, just not in Scotland, I saw it often at Bolton on the GUS parcels.

47637 Springburn, 47541 The Queen Mother we’re harder slots down south but they too wandered, having Scotrail markings or Highland Stag, just red stripe. I know I rode behind 47541 from Stockport on more than one occasion.

47541 at Cardiff

47637 At Paddington.

I think I recall seeing 47461 with a CD Crewe sticker, which would explain its wandering, CD 47/4’s were quite worldly. If anyone wants a Scotrail 47 for there late 80’s layout in any part of the UK 47461 would be appropriate.

That was the great thing about being an enthusiast in the 80/90’s... anything in any livery could show up anywhere (26/7/33/50’s excepted).

The 47/7’s were up there, then suddenly down there, and almost immediately became anonymous 47/7s.

Not perhaps quite so frequent down south... the photos at Crewe, Coventry and Banbury seem to have been taken on the same day (22-7-86). Perhaps even the photo at Reading was the same day, waiting for its train back north.

I’ve gone from none to 4x 47/7s in a matter of weeks, hot on the heels of 47710, I acquired 47708, then last week 47701 shows up.

Today, with thanks to Widnes Model Centre...post-20773-0-78758900-1521149511_thumb.jpeg

I might do a line up this weekend.

It’s a bit strange after years of only knowing Lima 47’s, seeing different sides to bogies, different piping etc.

To Scottish Exile... beware i’m catching you up !

I got an email from Arcadia Models yesterday lunchtime saying 47712 was in stock with one reserved for me. Rang and paid over the phone, asking if they could get in in the post straight away as I would be at home today. As promised, the postman delivered it today.  Great model, usual excellent service from Tim & Karen at Arcadia.

You used to see them all the time in the North West. I think I saw all of the Scotrail liveried examples. That includes a sparkling newly painted one on Allerton depot.

Jason

They all used to come down to Crewe Works for overhaul and from there they could be used on running in turns or sent in the opposite direction before going home!

Hi,

I have received my 47712 this morning, on removing the loco and placing on a flat surface it didn't sit correctly and had a distinct wobble with three wheels on each bogie about 1mm off the ground.  I have loosened the bogie screws but it still sits on the wobble, this is the first Bachmann 47 I have owned that does this. Very bizarre. I'm not chuffed at all so will be in contact with seller about returning it.

Looks very nice, commercially for Bachmann it is great idea to produce as many Scotrail 47\7 units as they can as they sure are popular.

If they did that they’d flood the market so it wouldn’t be sound commercially

I agree more in ScotRail livery wouldn't make commercial sense, but one in BR blue with white roof would I think be sufficiently different.

As a big 47/7 fan (while they were based in Scotland) Even I admit that more Scotrail livery versions could be a bit too much at the moment (unless it was a general release model next year to go with the DBSO) But if they were to release a blue with grey roof version or 47711 in large logo I would be all over them in an instant! (Even if they did them without the car type spotlight and we had to add them ourselves)

I tend to disagree, being someone that has purchased every single one of them, I would buy more, if you have a few of them there is a reasonable chance you would always take on another. They seem to sell very well by all accounts.

As much as I've tried to resist I shall also be succumbing to every one of the little beauties too
