  1. could we petition Bachmann to make 1,000 pans if we paid them upfront?
  2. Without knowing it, this could be why we have been waiting for one for so many years...and a few months.
  3. I suppose if it is biodegradable plastic then at least it woud be environmentally friendly
  4. When you see how many Bachmann Class 66's are on eBay at the moment due to the imminent release of the Hattons model - it makes you wonder if Hornby made the right decision to compromise on the quality on the pan. No one on the Hatton's thread are apologising for the quality of that model. Yet here we are It's plastic and that will disappoint potential customers, whereas metal would not have disappointed anyone. I am sure that this thread ran that topic into the ground and it looks like it's a bad decision - other reasons include... Even if it is a really good plastic pan and they supply it cheaply as spares, then I would probably just buy that and improve my LIMA and LIMBY models and upgrade them with lighting, which would be tricky but not nearly as tricky as a metal pantograph kit. In any case you can pay someone to install lighting but who can you pay to build a metal pantograph kit at a reasonable price? A sprung, non working metal pan would probably have been the best compromise to save money, as with very simple modifications it can be made both functional and posable and it at least has the potential to work under catenary. Alternatively multiple springs could be supplied seperately as an option to be fitted by the fussiest modellers and so bring down costs of assembly at the factory.
  5. Well - why not have a poll for the BW version, as that is likely to cover a wider range of Classes and have more potential for retro fitting? I would set up a poll but don't know how to do that ...
  6. This should be moved to its own thread - Section 75 does not apply to any credit card transactions which have gone via Paypal. The rule is very clear - there has to be a direct link between the buyer's credit card company and the supplier. Paypal acts in these circumstances acts as a sort of intermediary. In these circumstances your credit card company will tell you that Paypal will have to reimburse you I found this out the hard way. The good news is Paypal will give you up to 180 days to submit complaints on transactions. Getting back on track I am also looking forward to this APT - the crazy prices of the Rapido APT E is making this model appear more and more like the good value that it actually is. Would love to see this arrive by Xmas Dave!
  7. I am also wondering about this but further to a lot of postings on the DJM APT thread, it appears that Dave is in the process of setting up a business account with a more streamlined electronic payment system. Apparently his Paypal account was frozen due to suspicions of money laundering due to large amount of monies going into a personal account. Dave is probably in an interrogation cell with IRS and MI5 officers as we speak, who also want to be getting their pre-orders in!
  8. (cut and pasted from my email) Valid for the first 100 Customers only! Dont hang around... Use discount code PRIMEHORN for 10% off all Hornby Orders (including Pre-Orders) at our website www.jadlamracingmodels.com, (not Amazon).
  9. AFAIK the problem here (apart from we are not pulling up the actual math) is that we view time linearly and so we think of the photon being emitted and absorbed. As far as the photon is concerned there is no time lag and no distance involved. The only record of anything would be a transfer of information and energy. PS I am no Quantum Physicist either Note to editor - should this thread be hived off under Prototype Discussions - Quantum 'Tunneling'
  10. It's mentioned towards the bottom of the page which has Table 4 in it. To say light accelerates contravenes one of the cornerstones of Relativity theory, that is the whole point of it = light travels at the same, constant speed in all frames of reference. I haven't read that book or the seen the math but if any of that math is derived from that presumption, then it is going to be wrong wrong. However, I wouldn't like to put myself up against Nikolai Tesla Back to the trains idea - I think it is great. It does seem a bit Heath Robinson in design (or Rube -Goldberg if you are American) but it uses simple, reliable and well understood technology, (therefore should be cheap) is environmenally friendly and readily scalable. It does help if you have a lot of desert land avaialable...
  11. Well for a start light never accelerates. It only travels at one speed and it gets to that speed instantaneously.
  12. A lot more I imagine than who ever have, or ever will use BULL and BUSH
  13. This thread has more twists and turns than the history of the original APT. Hopefully a better outcome Considering the difficult recent private circumstances for Dave, which he neverthless shared on this thread, we can give him support with patience and our confidence in what he does best to help him see the project through. Behind you 100% power and full tilt Xx
  14. From Blake's Hall to Blake's 7 (via White City) to Seven Sisters
  15. Well done sir! advance to Mayfair - Mornington Crescent! and do feel free to offer free entry to any of those locations! Nexty round - can I suggest there should be no link at all between the stations. Modern tfl map and all historical /closed locations are initially in play Kudos and points go to anyone who spots an accidental link between successive stations I will throw the dice at ALDGATE
  16. I don't really know what I want as most of my capability for independant thought and decision making has been hijacked by social media and slick advertising. However I have noticed that I am spending nearly 4 times as much this year at the cinema than in previous years...
  17. Terminus swop to MORDEN going widdershins
  18. A slight offside edge takes us to OVAL
  19. Do you mean the imminent retirement of Gwen Stefani? Or were you thinking of taking a stroll down Abbey Road - in which case you can always 'Walk on By' to Warwick Avenue
