Is it possible to retain the Y arrangement but have the Northern line feed into the lower fiddle yard?
I hope that makes sense? In other words, have the Bodmin North line curve down into the lower fiddle yard, as in the second drawing, but off scene so it doesn't jar with the prototype layout. No ducking under then required.

Excellent modelling and realisation. Very cleverly executed, and much to inspire from that one blog entry alone.
Thanks for sharing!

Another vote for the "simple" trackwork. It has more finesse and less fussy to my eye.
Regardless, I've been following your journey (from a distance) so it will be good to watch as this comes to fruition.

Nice idea re the bolts providing track power. Have you solder the tops of the bolts to the underside of the rails or are they just making contact?

Well, we'll perhaps reserve the applause for now, since I've only, so far, built one test turnout and a section of plain track...
But I'm glad you approve!
And thank you for your interest, it is appreciated.

This is very, very interesting. I like the "system" approach.
Am I right in assuming each grid on the drawing is 1' by 1'?

I agree, the lighting is what makes these images. There are a lot of layouts out there that one concludes "meh", chiefly because they are not lit well.
Thanks for sharing these.

Looking good. I superglued my sides but your soldered versions look better.
What paint did you use for the body sides?

Great views. I like how the railway features centrally, yet is discrete within the wider scene. Extremely well conceived, I think.
I agree, it's a model of a hamlet/hillside, with a railway running through it. Outstanding.

Yes, I agree, a lovely piece of writing, well thought out and balanced reasoning. Thanks for taking the time to jot down your thoughts.
As an aside, I was at an exhibition in Solihull 3 or 4 years ago, at which there was an N gauge layout that proudly proclaimed, via a notice on the front of the layout, that trains were running to a real-time timetable. A riveting display, it was not.
