  1. Since getting back from Wellington we've been rather busy and I've had little time for model railways at all. However, this weekend sees the big Epping MRC show at Rosehill Gardens racecourse. https://www.eppingmodelrailway.org.au/2024-exhibition/ I was there today helping to operate @RudderC Charles' Uley Junction layout and generally aiding and abetting the BRMA stand team. http://www.brma.org.au/BRMA Galleries/British/NSW Layout - 1156 - Uley Junction/index.html http://www.brma.org.au/ As always, there were nearly 100 exhibits and I thought that the balance of layouts was better than in some recent years. There were still a good few Australian Standard roundy-roundies but plenty of other styles in different scales and gauges too (including my Melbourne friend @martink's linear motor-powered Dauntsey Lock and Monbulk Creek). Good traders as well and I came away with some useful bits and pieces. If you're within reach, I recommend popping along tomorrow.
  2. They weren't lost. They were in the same place they've always been.
  3. Phew. Perhaps it's as well for me that the last Newcastle show was cancelled then.
  4. Puff and some of his mates come round our suburb every Christmas Eve throwing lollies to the kids (big and small...).
  5. Perhaps he measured the output with the ac scale on his multimeter (I don't actually know whether this would make any difference as I've never tried and as a mere mechanical engineer I can't do the sums)?
  6. I remember, at the seaside, paying a penny to pull a string and see the Water Otter. You all know the rest.
  7. As we well know, all generalisations (which mine was) are false! How about the Accurascale Deltic?
  8. In the context of RMweb I'd have expected it to be a Pedigree... (Moderators: photo from World of Railways website so I assume no copyright restriction on RMweb - if I'm wrong, please delete).
  9. Interesting. With a 24Vac input, I'd expect the output to be about 34Vdc (RMS and all that).
  10. So am I - but (trigger warning: pebble about to be thrown into pond) I'm equally puzzled as to how some people could consider a fine RTR model as 'inferior' to a scratch- or kit-built one... I first saw Garsdale Road at a Hemel Hempstead show in about 1971. Torandor Valley was also there, I think, and Paul Towers too probably but it was GR that stuck with me.
  11. No. To the best of my knowledge, you can't eat a pannier.
  12. I do like this composition, especially with the (your?) family group. Perhaps half a second earlier so as to get the whole loco in (and avoid the telegraph pole growing out of it)?
