  1. This response is well overdue but I did get those frames some months ago. Thanks, Chris. You're a legend.
  2. I am now going to treat the actual arrival of this fabled model, should it ever take place, as a sign of the Apocalypse...
  3. As it happens, my new layout project has a requirement for Black Fives again. I'm aware of the new tooling underway but I'm happily sticking with the last variant for my needs. The pros and cons have been highlighted already and my intent is to deal with the listed shortcomings and add a few refinements like Gibson bogie wheels and the Brassmasters detail parts. I have gone this route with Black Fives in the past and had very satisfactory results therefore I see no need to change. The new models may be nice but they're a little out of my league pricewise now and in any case, I prefer the engagement and ultimate sense of fulfillment obtained by taking the scenic route and putting a bit of my own heart and soul into creating a high quality finescale OO five. 🙂 Davy
  4. It's a very nice model, but I won't be binning my Bachmann model any time soon. Might be a good time for second hand 9F and Black Five hunters though. 🙂 Davy.
  5. Yep. That's pretty impressive for the price, Porcy. Davy.
  6. That's pretty good running for something that doesn't have a High Level gearbox in! Mine, alas has the pick up issues and I'm going to have to give it some major tweaks. I wonder if there's an opportunity for somebody to make a better quality drop-in arrangement with perhaps slightly stiffer brass. Davy.
  7. Whoever it was that told me Bachmann's website now had a direct sale spares shop, thanks! I've just sorted out three engines that have been hanging around awaiting bits for years! 👍

  8. I hope it runs better than the one I bought in 2018. Ran like a three legged dog until my mate hard-wired it for me. It seems to run well enough now but it has retained the extremely uncomplimentary name I bestowed on it during its troubles; s***w***ingc***b******ofaf***t***. Davy.
  9. Fantastic picnic and beachcombing sesh with the ladyfriend at Dunnottar Castle today.

Forgotten how much fun collecting interesting pebbles could be.!

  10. I'm try to place an order via pre-paid installments guys but every time I get the code via email, it tells me to then enter my email when I return to the page. I'm now stuck in the validation code cycle of death! 🤯🤣 Davy.
  11. Good day!

  12. That's not an ARP box, it's an LNER post-war design. Pretty much adopted as a standard for ScR from 1948.
  13. Well, if you really want a punter to talk to Chris, it's well after time I spoke to you about a spare frame etch for the big Barclay! 😉 Davy.
  14. I heard these were coming but I missed the order window. Damn! Davy.
  15. We could use a run of these with ScR numbers too; they were quite visible in the Central belt in the early-mid '60s. Especially in the West. Davy.
  16. Does this mean that the next batch of Deltics will be capable of flying around the room and landing autonomously..? Davy
  17. Any developments, as per the D40. Last I heard there were problems with sourcing appropriate wheels? Davy.
  18. Not sure 2bs are suitable for the ECML but they'll look good for sure. St Paddy has crossed the finishing line this morning and I have to say, well worth the 3 year wait. My trust in your ability to deliver was and is well placed, guys. If the quality of your wagons was not in itself an indicator of what to expect, then seeing your first loco in the flesh most certainly is! That someone has finally got that elusive nose profile so right is a source of joy to me and now I'm back on the platform at Berwick in the late 70s, listening to the Napiers throb as the brake is released and Deltic prepares to set of south across the Royal Border Bridge. She really is a beauty and to say I'm delighted with the model is to grossly understate things. 🙂 So. Thanks. 🙂👍
  19. KOSB arrived yesterday. Apart from the bodyside filler hatch outlines being a little heavy, she really is superb. The first model Deltic to truly capture the nose profile and the 'sit' is perfect. Well done guys. Just waiting for St Paddy now with a real sense of anticipation. 🙂👍 Davy.
  20. I only ever use the self-service option under extreme protest.
  21. I'm massively impressed with that 'What if'. The Deltic wears it exceptionally well! Davy.
  22. Lots of tetchiness here; they must be running CERN this weekend or something... 😉 Davy.
