  1. Thanks for your response. I have just the same source as you, but if you look at Rapido's list no 24 (lined) isn't one of the 4 mention lined ones but does come in as C15 in the later list of plain black; no 17 (Plain) is mentioned as 2 different plain black liveries (C13, C15). I want to know which I can justify for late 1930's.
  2. Can anyone give dates for the 2 late LMS liveries? My books are a but woolly on this, did some get lined and some not, or were they all plain then lined, or lined first then repainted plain? Mercy buckits a la respondez vou-ers.
  3. I sold a loco this week for £119.95, the US buyer paid £161 in total. I have also had enquiries as to why items costing £20 were incurring such high delivery charges. From a sellers point of view the GSP makes things very simple, from a buyers it makes things expensive. I now don't look for items other than "UK only" when purchasing as the postal charges from abroad are so high.
  4. No expert on this, but the Heljan Beyer Garratt has 2 chassis/motors running off 1 chip, and if you don't want 2 motors can you not simply take 1 motor of the bogie?
  5. Would the Turbomotive sound different to a normal Princess?
  6. Fabulous engine shed scenes, watch it, tape it, don't miss it if you haven't seen it.
  7. I haven't had the baseplate off one of these, but I have changed the 2pin plug and socket for a 4pin one to put a better speaker in the tender, and the wiring is connected to a PCB, not the baseplate, so I presume you are only getting power from the tender. As an aside, the new Precedent doesn't have connections soldered to the baseplate, they just touch contact, for ease of changing the wheelsets.
  8. Just taken me 20 mins to work out how to open the drill boxes. Easy when you know how.
  9. Just seen your reply, thank you. Before you reduce your picture to the small size you have to colour the background in grey, code b6b6b6, to match the ECoS. I think I've done everything I should have, I just don't know why it keeps saying file too big.
  10. Hello all. A few years ago I downloaded a tutorial on creating loco icons via a photo altering thingy called Gimp, and successfully created my own icons. I have now tried to create a few more since the introduction of new locos like the 1P, Caley & Precedent etc, but the Gimp thingy has changed to something a bit more complicated which looks nothing like the tutorial. I think I managed to muddle through it and created 2 little pictures which measure the required 190 x 40 whatevers, with the background coloured in, but neither will upload to ECoS. (I think it said the file was too big). Does anyone know where there is a more recent description of how to go about it, I've had a Google but there appears to be nothing earlier than about 5 years old. I am a bit un-computery so I would need something that spells everything out in simple terms. Thanks all.
  11. Thanks for your reply, I'll have a look tomorrow. I remember CV 49 is 3, I've looked at that; I haven't looked at 56 because I thought that only applied to V4's.
  12. Thanks for your reply. The sound file was done by Olivia's many years ago when I first started playing with sound, it was for use in a Hornby Pug. A couple of years ago I obtained a few Zimo micros and swapped my Pugs over, the 3.5's became surplus so I've just put one in a Rails Precedent. I've had to fiddle a lot to get it to work with the coreless motor so cv2 has been changed quite a bit, it doesn't alter the surplus chuffs.
  13. Hello Folks. I've recently fitted a loksound 3.5 to a loco, and after a lot of fiddling it runs reasonably, chuffs per rev are reasonable, but the main problem is whenever the loco starts it always gives 2 chuffs before the wheels turn. Any ideas how to stop this?
  14. Could anyone else who has a Talavera confirm it is shiny black with gold lettering, Rails pictures show a more normal more Matt black with yellow lettering.
  15. Just got back from Rails with my LMS black Caledonian 812 and Precedent, the Precedent is a lot shinier black than any other plain black LMS loco I have. In my late 1930's world Talavera was kept on after withdrawal to shove the inspection saloon around for Director's Jollies, so was kept polished. (Rule 1 applies).
  16. I ordered 1 of these, and a Precedent, as soon as they were announced. I paid a deposit by PayPal, and marked both to collect in store. I haven't heard anything yet, do you think I will get a notification to collect them, or should I just turn up as they have been sending them out, even if only ordered a day ago, as above?
  17. How? I'm no computery expert, I would expect a cross in the corner to close it, but there isn't one. There's a sound on/off in one corner, and 3 dots in the other to tell me about Connatix, and that's it.
  18. Wish I could see the pictures properly, but there's a sodding great video of some irrelevant crap blocking most of my screen, still!
  19. Whilst I agree Masi should be booted into touch, if they do so the FIA are basically saying he cocked up, whilst still claiming the result was fair and shouldn't be changed.
  20. I hope it goes to court, a judge confirms Masi is bent/incompetent and the result should not stand, but Lewis tells Verstappen/Red Bullshitters to keep the title anyway.
  21. The 5th columnists have gone quiet.
  22. What just happened? A lot of posts seem to have disappeared whilst I was posting the above. Edit It's alright, it's just me going senile. My reply made it jump from the page I was on to another page, it doesn't take much these days to confuse me, just getting old. I also talk to myself a lot.
