  1. Have a look at the Turbomotive. It comes with a lamp iron in place on the smokebox door which is removeable to plug a supplied lamp in. Presume the Black 5 will be the same.
  2. Just ordered an LMS red one from Hattons Black Friday sale, £144 + £3.75 postage. Next job is get a decoder reblown, any votes for the best sound?
  3. I missed what put George out?
  4. Roco do one that works out at 60', but it's expensive. Heljan used to do one but they're hard to find second hand and can be unreliable but can be reworked when the controller breaks; you then have to stop it by eye as you will have lost the auto-stopping bit.
  5. Current cheapest prices on eBay for the LMS version are £220 DCC ready, £265 sound fitted.
  6. Hello. I use RMWeb on a laptop and a PC. If I've been on the laptop and then use the PC I find I am logged out on the PC, and trying to log in means my password isn't recognised and I have to reset it, which I do using my original password and my PC then works. I am then logged out on the laptop, and have to go through the same process on there, again using my original password, and the cycle then continues. It's been doing this for ages, any ideas why? Regards.
  7. If its one of the earlier Hornby ones with a Loksound 3.5 it has a small rectangular speaker behind the radiator grille, they never sounded very good because the back of the speaker wasn't enclosed. Does yours still work or do you just want to improve it?
  8. 100 ohm for v3 & v3.5, 4-8 ohm for v4 & v5
  9. I use the tracked 48 because I haven't a printer, and the post office prints a label from a bar-code on my phone. I presume I can't use the collect option because I suppose I would need to have printed a label for the postie? Is this correct?
  10. The TXS versions are now being listed on eBay.
  11. I spoke to an Accurascale chappie at an exhibition (Donny or York I think) and asked if they planned on producing anything with LMS written on it. He said the only thing they might think about was the little Kitson shunter. Make of that what you will.
  12. Over the last couple of days I have been asked to log in 3 times on 2 different machines, each time it tells me my password is incorrect (which it isn't), and I have to re-set it; which I do to the same password. It then works until the next time, when I have to go through the same thing again.
  13. You can also use it with another decoder that just drives the motor (2 chips in one engine.) I had a Loksound that didn't drive, and another with the sound burnt out; I combined the 2 and got 1 working loco from 2 half duds.
  14. How about a Scenecraft model of the NRM complete with working turntable and Ltd Ed models of every exhibit to place round it?
  15. The 2 outer wires are to pickups, but you must ensure they are to the same side as the tender pickups otherwise you'll have a dead short.
  16. I saw him years ago at York Railway Museum where he was on his own with a Hornby stand. I asked him what sort of a day he was having. "A good one, I haven't upset anyone yet" he said. My reply was "You're not trying man, put some effort into it!" I got a big grin. He will be missed, I hope his replacement (who in all likelihood will be younger) doesn't follow Bachmann's lead and seem to forget about the vast pool of steamy things in preference to the coffin shaped things. Let's not replace a "Kohler" with an "Oiler". All the best Simon. Regards. A Well-wisher.
  17. You can remove the decoder but don't cut the wires close to the decoder so that you can put them on eBay and get some pennies back. If it's just a simple loco (no lights etc) then it's just 2 wires from the pickups to the motor.
  18. 'Cos it's a quad art set, and some young upstart has beat them to it.
  19. Missed yesterday's episode so I've just watched it on catch-up, and noticed the episodes go up to 11, but there's no number 10.
  20. I don't know if it's been mentioned on here, but John Thaw's daughter's character is Dorothea Frazil. Frazil is a form of ice, therefore:- D. Frazil = De-ice = Thaw. A magic touch from the writer.
  21. Sometimes the motor functions still work even with damage like that, see if you can still use it as an ordinary decoder.
  22. I presume these decoders can be over-written more than just the initial loading? I was thinking of trying one with the Turbomotive sound as listed, to see what sound Hornby has used, as I suppose it should be a different sound to a "straight" Princess, then maybe changing the sound to something else listed.
  23. Not so. I have an ECoS, and have 2 separate free apps on my Android phone and tablet:- ECoS Controller and RtDrive ECoS. Didn't have to spend a penny for wireless control.
