  1. Any update of the revival of this, very useful, function, please.
  2. Succinct and informative, thank you. I have laid some as they come, and they work really well, but I don't like the way locos can run against the point on sidings unlike the electrofrog version - DC, BTW. I suspect some PW work is going to be undertaken when I get a moment...
  3. Pop Up Designs will be there, on their first public, as it were, outing to gauge interest in their railway building range. Both Iain, the designer, and the Pop Up team will be there and they are looking for feedback and suggestions for their offerings so drop by and encourage them in their efforts, as they have done a lot more for ScR modelling than most other trade sources over the years. Pop Up is a social enterprise set up and Iain is doing the input as a labour of love and both are to be encouraged in their efforts, I think...
  4. Is there nothing the Triang Princess can be turned in to?....🤔 Great work, right up my street.....
  5. I was handed in a box of that sort of thing in the shop - used to retail railways but no longer - and I gave a collection of assembled Superquick buildings to a delighted train mad youngster, so if you can find an outlet they may find a future use.
  6. Thirty seven pages of it here.......
  7. Model master is run by Jim.
  8. A batch of vans I put together recently - plenty LMS ones here... Usual mix of Cambrian,Parkside, Ratio and the RTR body on Parkside underframes.
  9. Try cleaning the wheel treads and backs with Deoxit - there is often a lot of invisible gunge on new models wheels. As said, the flickering lights suggest intermittent pick up. Cleaning the rails is also a good idea. HTH.
  10. One side only is all I ever do - don't even paint the other....never seen, so no point and it gives you more time to make even more stock! Getting a matt spray finish is tricky and several of my go to favourites have been playing up recently, but Winsor and Newton do one that gives a flat finish. Avoid spraying in on a humid day as this can affect the results. They also do a satin varnish which might be better for coaches, which were better looked after than wagon stock.
  11. Try cleaning the back of the drivers and their treads with Deoxit. I got a lot of gunge off the one I had on trial which improved the running quality no end, but wasn't impressed with its start and stop control with straightforward DC compared to some of the Hornby 0-6-0's, but my resurrected H&M 3000 with its adjustable sliders managed to get a more responsive action.
  12. There are three pictures in Vol 1 of the LMS wagon if that helps.

Thanks for the MRJ links - saved me some searching. I'll dig these out. I bought this book last week after a newspaper article and was bowled over by it. Shades of Madder Valley and Buckingham about it and a wonderful paean to a lifetimes work.
  14. Here is the Colour rail one that I have framed up on my workbench wall.
  15. Link to Ernies album - last image on page three. There were several different cars used post war - the Pullmans, a MR clerestory diner and an ex GE, IIR, one as well. There was an article in Backtrack detailing the workings and cars based at Inverness for the lines but its buried away somewhere. Colour rail has/had a lovely colour image of a six wheel LMS car being shunted in crimson and cream by the lined out black tank. Might be worth checking their site. https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/albums/72157691625089715/page3
  16. Ernies Archives will be worth a trawl through, a plethora of very useful images. There is a cracking shot of an LMS restaurant car at The Mound in his Far North Line album.
  17. Thumbs up for Citadel paints and also Lifecolor, which are quite thin but have really good covering. Personally, I find the dropper bottles a pain, preferring jars, but each to their own.
  18. Many thanks for that - very helpful indeed. I have copied the box from the OPC book for him and will pass that and your reply on. He is good at working from photos but being of a more methodical mind than myself, likes to have some measured dimensions as well.
  19. Has there been any mention of what type of motor is going to power this ?
  20. Cheers, I'll pass it on to him - don't know if it will help him or not but I'll let him see it. The CRA has published a book on CR Signalling - would you know if it has any Northern section box drawings in it or not?
  21. Thanks, I'd already found that in my searching, and a useful site it is too, but ideally a drawing or two is what I am after. The designer behind the Pop Up range of railway buildings is keen to do some Caley boxes and he likes to have some dimensioned references to work from.
