  1. Its still a pre-production model......
  2. Here we go - 1st samples https://digest.Dapol.co.uk/forum/main-forum/diesel-aa/class-59/project-managers-blog-aq/2045-oo-class-59-e-p
  3. Agreed - but the Murphy models were made in much smaller numbers. Suprised Kernow did not go directly to the factory, cut the middle man out of the equation Im glad you are bored. Dont forget this is a consumers forum as much as it is a modellers forum.
  4. 4 unpowered coaches at £67.50 each - Right-o. Ill gamble that these wont sell and will be reduced And yes it is a 'too expensive' gripe - but it really is this time. Murphy Models Cravens/BR Mk2D coaches were made in less numbers (models that is) and were cheaper......... January is not a good time to launch given many will be skint after Christmas A nice model though
  5. Id say given the price, the smoke unit is now optional - thankfully!!!
  6. Ever stop and think that Dapol maybe dont want them to be seen until they are correct, or people to come on here, slate it and then everyone gets the wrong impression??
  7. I was given a look also, they would rather hold back and get it bang on. But the samples were very very close to the final product
  8. I see Hattons are now listing 59's to pre-order. Are we edging closer or did Hattons have a longer to-do list than a Leonard Cohen song.......
  9. If you really want one wait a while as Im sure it will be discounted.
  10. Indeed - it served its purpose well. Having worked in railway preservation there is a large degree of realism required
  11. There were also 4 unused engines that were fitted when it was returned to flight along with some spares - which were also used up. If those engines had not been available the Vulcan would not have flown again Its the perennial dream really
  12. Thank you for sharing that with the world. Im thankful not all members of society get themselves so wound up over what is merely playing with toy trains.......
  13. I was told at Glasgow by Peco that this is the instruction/info manual that comes with the starter set
  14. When were these introduced in the 1/1 scale world??
  15. More potential from a bogie wagon, plus Dapol already make one of the bogies that are under a lot of Mendip stone wagons
  16. Was told at the Telford D&E show by Dapol to expect something 'in the summer'. Alas they didnt say Summer 2016 or not..........
  17. That well know online auction site has plenty
  18. Welcome to the world on internet forums sadly. Just the way it goes. Still larger in the real world though, the internet certainly represents a demographic but not the majority Its unfortunate that decoration and performance issues are letting the model down, but I certainly will wait until Ive seen a 59 with my own eyes before I open my wallet
  19. Love to know why everyone is convinced salvation will come via the 2nd batch.............. 1st ones have to sell/go stale 1st..............and there has not even been a 2nd batch announced either...........
  20. Has the 'second batch' been confirmed??
  21. So Todays Starter for 10 - Will Dapol listen to the retailers now who are suddenly stuck with returns, or will they (Dapol) think that since only X% were returned its ok and continue to make/sell them without improvments. Keep in mind that not every modeller is going to be upset about all the 73's issues
  22. Any chance you can post a photo of it please? Alas not got the dough atm but curious to see if Dapol have the colours on this one right...............
  23. Its not the 1st time Ive seen models made in China use generic colours rather than the correct shades, Murphy Models 201's in Intercity livery had some very different interpretations of green and yellow to the prototype
  24. Hopefully (??!!) Dapol have/will learn from the 73 debacle and get the 59 right with a perfect shape but not let down by livery/electrical issues...
  25. I know the buffers and 'colouring' have been heavily discussed but what about the ride height? See attached photos. In reality the 33 has bigger diameter wheels,3'7 vs the 3'4 of the 73 but should the locos be more or less 'level' with each other. The Heljan 33/1 is out of the box wheelswise The Class 33 is 12 ft 8 in tall (3.86 m) with wheels that are 3ft 7in (1.092 m) in diameter. The Class 73 is 12 ft 5 5/16 in tall (3.79m) with 3 ft 4 in (1,016 mm) wheels. So the 33 is 70cm/2ft 4in taller. Lets not take into account fuel loads/worn wheelsets/tired springs etc Have Dapol (and Heljan) got these 2 bang on?
