I think it’s probably unwashed grime… D6992 roof -
Another vote for these! They have transformed the running of our Bachmann NBL warships and Dapol NBL type 2s. If space is really tight you can take the capacitor off the board and reconnect on flying leads so it can be sited remotely from the board.

Cheers Rob that’s the plan … 60s steam on this one but very much a community project

Haven’t updated for a while, here’s progress to date… Level crossings went in today ,.. Wadborough just down from the station and Pirton by the signal box. Got to scratch build the buildings for Wadborough station…. MR timber with diagonal planking, is next job. Exit through backscene at north end will be through a low relief version of Abbotswood bridge ..,, guess I know how to do that one!!!

Was great to see you Bob. Redditch show next March is next trip out… -
Comes to something Mr SM when we are reduced to tender spotting!!! 😉 But unfortunately I don’t think that tender ever made it home to Swindon for a decent burial… a quick Flickr search for 7816 Gloucester finds it there behind 7816 in January 66 following withdrawal in November 65 …. And according to BRdatabase she was cut at Cashmores Newport in February 66. Probably the last GWR badged item they cut up? But I doubt they appreciated that!

Thinking about likely train formations late 60s early 70s …. if loaded with a tracked excavator eg Drott am thinking of it accompanying either a train of empty Grampuses going out on a job or loaded ones returning …. Can’t see any other option than the Langley models Drott… Or may be this Track lifting train … although those look more like lowmacs and I can’t see what they are loaded with.,.,

Even the WR ones got molested ! Take a look at 6885 for example in that Brush Veteran collection on Flickr …. 4 years apart admittedly but very different fittings on either end! And not a WR lamp bracket in sight 6885 A end May 73 6885 B end Sept 69 -

Very nice sequence there thanks for sharing! Was “clinking over” an NE speciality I wonder? -
Some sort of suspension arrangement on the middle axle would probably make for better running. One for Rapido perhaps?

Dont recall seeing altered WR lamp irons on 37s …. Standard lamp irons were usually added lower down , either 1 or 2 . Some locos eg 6844 in Scotland had a full set of everything… 2 WR headboard clips, 2 WR lamp irons and 2 BR lamp irons. There’s just no pattern to it!
