The rake of TEAs should be making an appearence at our open Weekend this Saturday and Sunday. I can't guarentee the class 37 will be rostered for it - a class 60 might make an appearence instead.

Are you trying to do too much with it? Perhaps the cab and footplate should be etched leaving the 3d printing to do the boiler and tank?
Happy modelling.

Diesel hauled trains require a smaller crew. If you're a preserved railway trying to make the most of the school summer holidays and are short of volunteer drivers & firemen then diesels could be the only option.

Mmmm, fiddle yard roads long enough for two full length HSTs.
I think we're going to need some more trains!

Looking good.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to have problems with tranfer carried film. You might be able to get away with just overcoating them with Klear.
Transfers sit best on a gloss finish - the carrier film shows up less. If you've got spares, I'd be tempted to remove the new numbers. Apply some Klear to the area and leave to dry. Reapply the numbers and leave to dry (over night). You can then coat over with matt/satin varnish to seal them before weathering.
Where did you get the buffers from? I'm converting the coal sector class 37 to Petroleum sector 37 273 which had oval buffers rather than the round ones the model has.

Highclere's far from mediocre from the photos I've seen of it. Looking forward to catching it at a show before too long.

What about cream as the base colour? If it was good enough for the Southern Railway...

Why remove the point springs for wire in tube operation?

What scale are they?

Aren't the plough shields on the same etch as the hand-wheels? (or have you just not got round to fitting them?)

Nice work. I don't think it needs any toning down at all.

It might look better if the corner at the open end (ie. closest to the camera in the picture above) was curved rather than square.
Are you going for open top or covered?

As if excelent 2FS wasn't enough, Julia's shaming us with 2mm narrow gauge. What next? Working value gear in T gauge?
The chassis of the Nm3 wagon looks OK. The actual hopper would look better in etched brass or nickel silver though.

TPM do etched headcode disks if you want to ditch the Farish plastic ones.

Great weathering job on the PGAs!

Impressive work as ever.
Will it use a scratch built chassis or are you going to 2FS the Farish GWR railcar chassis?

Spend some of your cash on plasticard & brass and start scratch building the items of rolling stock that you're missing. You're almost guaranteed to get at least one of them from Farish or Dapol as soon as you've finished the first one.

Solder wick (braided copper impregnated with flux) is great for getting rid of excess solder.
Like JMissy I don't have much trouble with a fibreglass brush and always clean etched models with a tooth brush and Jif/Cif type cream cleaner - helps get rid of any excess flux and neutralises any that you miss. The micro-scratches it leaves also helps the paint stick.
If you're still worried about the excess solder spoiling the paint finish give it a quicke dusting with white primer. It will show the areas you don't need to worry about and highlight the parts you need to do a bit more work on.
Keep up the good work!

Have you tried Manchester library for suitable OS Maps? They might still have some larger scale maps for the period you're interested in.

A very adventurous plan. Best of luck with it!
I bet you're rather pleased Dapol have anounced the 142 (or that Worsley Works do an etched version of it) - plenty of them to be seen at Victoria in the late 1980s.
There was a thread on the old RMWeb which included quite a few photos of Victoria in the 1980s including class 25 haulled parcels trains made up of GUVs or CCT. Might be worth finding them.
Never seen anyone store their books by the colour of the cover before

Nice looking loco but I'm not at all sure about the day-glow green used for the lower body-side stripe.
Happy modelling.
