Good luck and please keep us up to date with your progress.
I must be honest it's a brave step P4. I would like to one day attempt as 2mm finescale layout but that is an eventuality.
-
Why thank you, hopefully she'll look alot better once weathered and "artistically" tatty. I'm aiming to have her finished within the month, if not the fortnight
-
Why sir
You have found a fair few faults with this model! What are Dapol up to!!!! good luck anyway
-
That is some cracking grime there mate!
-
I tend to quite like the chunky look about them. In the end I find a good paint and weathering job is as good as an aftermarket etch. Not to say they don't have a place in modelling society.
-
Why thank you
-
Top drawer man, I have one of those I need to repaint. Shame I'm not modelling the LT!
-
Aww thank you nigel. That's quite a statement to be fair.
Mike, I've sort of started doing other people's stock now (as you may see with my friends pannier) 300 is still a hefty task for someone of my experience though, but maybe one day!
-
Danke. It's been a bit of a trial and error thing. Just realised I may have put the rear stop cock on wrong and I can see glue everywehere! Never mind!
-
Mainly the steam heat pipe on the loco. The wonderful thing about photos is they can hide some horrific problems! Still a bit of work to do tho.
Thank you though Shame I have to paint the green lamp iron
-
Ohhh she's pretty! typical though, you built two and Hatton's declares making one!
-
erm a thousands pounds... no sorry just been watching some Blackadder.
Yeah, I'll think of some quotes, since it'll be a little while before I'm considered fully professional (if at all!) the price won't be too bad.
Is there any legal implcations in any of this. A BTEC in Business Studies never really saw me through this!
-
Wow, I saw his original at Hartlepool and made a impressed comment about it unaware the very man was directly behind me. Very humble he was. A joy to chat to, great modeller as well! Have you seen his P10!
If he can do a P2/2 I may be looking for a comssion as well!

Danke missy, I just did some touch ups afterward off to show it my friend soon. By the way the my oil tankers are almost done, just a bit of reworking to make them run better and couple better is needed.
-
That's the DCC chip, it's a shame that the cab bulkhead was around at the time, I would like to have had a crack at a cab interior.
I can relate to off putting remark, but I'm not a massive fan of DCC and it's the owners discression to have what they want on their locomotive.
-
Thank you, not just the unfitted type. I mostly model early to mid fifties. I have modified some Bachmann wagons to be vac-fitted though. I'll get on to those in due time.
It's a shame no one but lima have produced a rtr one of these! mind you, I'll finish these and low and behold.
Ohh interesting. Thank you for the link. Currently I was thinking of keeping the bogies as bought but in the future I may try to make them less GWR! Or even add an LMS wagon to it, I miss out the oppotunity to buy a diamond frame one at Hartlepool!
-
lol, that's for the clients, I've just worked with what I've got. But yeah the numbers are the printed ones on the cab.
Thank you very much.
-
That's mental man
-
Well, considering they're near enough finished... a bit pointless. Plus I wanted to waste as little with the kit as possible. It's amazing for a fair bit of weathering can disguse
-
Aww thank you I've wanted to set up a Gothic Rock band which wrote songs about trains
-
Thanks guys this means alot to hear. I feel a little better after a chat with a fellow and a close friend who I go to the club with. The tankers still need to be improved to help them run better.
The full story on the minerals was I had made a few mistakes and a dodgy application of varnish that was later partially rubbed off helped with some of the streaking I beleive. I'm going to have a crack at some less weathered examples with the kits I've got.
The 9F, with be revamped, with it being a Hornby raiload example (brilliant, practial and almost indestructable!!!!) using some parts from a Dapol kit I've never put together and other bits from comet and the spares box. The plan is to do 92087 in early emblem, possibly the last 9F to have this livery. Also the first 9F to be built at Swindon (hopefully to the annoyace to the anti-GWR brigade at the club).
Though I must point out Mike G, I'm still not doing 300 of the blooming things... 10 tankers were bad enough
-
Top notch there missy You've put all of my efforts to shame!
-
Wow...simply put... just wow!
-
Noooo it's been an inspiration to us all. I know about bad days hon, I've just had to put 20 Esso transfers on to labels for my tanker train and it hasn't met with the best success. It stil lwon't stop me though.

Well, the ideal was to have her months, if not weeks before withdrawal/overhaul the number maybe could have been rustier in my eyes. She is incredibly uniform though I must agree, I think the frames could have been rustier as could have the smoke box & smoke box door. I also wish the bugffer beams could be more noticable. The buffers themselves, yeah, oiler and darker or rustier.
The coupling rods are oily brown it's just they don't show on the pictures. The brake pipes, no, but they should show a more material warth so a leather/brown touch most definatly.
Hmm... the phoes most deinatly don't do it justices, it's not as muted as it looks but it is quite cold and blue...
But thank you. I'll be taking this on board for future projects.
