  1. Hello All In Match 2018 I ordered OO scale Nelevator from a company called Nelevation. Still not delivered and hardly word from them after chasing up progress several times. Has anyone here recently had a unit delivered or having issues like mine? It’s very frustrating. Thanks
  2. Not convinced it genuinely active even if the company is still legally open; several years since I saw any ads or a stand at a major show. However as you indicate, they filed accounts up to January last year which does suggest they have not seen any reason to have wound the company up when we last heard anything. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/09965625 Only one director (his wife?) at a small villlage to the north of Huntingdon The website Nelevation.com has gone, but there is a Nelevator.com, unfortunately they are a firm maintaining lifts in the USA! Rather sad, as the product looked well engineered and it struck me as promising approach to storage even in OO, but even better suited to smaller scales like N. It currently looks to me like a gap in the market for some entrepreneur with the requisite light engineering/manufacture facilities.
  3. I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this, but as it would be part of a track plan, I hope its ok. I have been looking into this device again and I wonder If anyone on here has bought one and can give a review of how well it works, value for money etc.? I sent them an email with a question regarding a "second level kit option (£30 per end)", of which there is no photo nor explanation of what it does? I've not had a reply so far, but that's just a couple of days. The reviews on their website are not current, so I'm suspicious that they may not be trading either due to Covid restrictions or permanently. All in all, it looks to be a clever piece of kit and though somewhat expensive, is the ideal solution to limited space layouts as well as the saving of track, points, wire and control ( DC) etc. etc. So if you have one or have seen one in full operation, please let me know your thoughts. Thank you, Tod
  4. Afternoon all, as I noticed the prices have been released for this unique piece of N Gauge kit I thought I'd share the website address here as I couldn't find any other threads related to it. A message from the guy who's engineered the project "We need 50 adopters now to give us the confidence to take the project forward. Please have a look at the price list on the web site www.nelevation.com . There's a link in the Order form section." I for one need one of these as my fiddle yard can only currently accommodate seven trains! Cost pretty much on par with building a 20 lane fiddle yard in a tiny space! DCC integration being worked on. Paul
  5. Has anyone bought one of the Nelevation storage systems, if so what are your opinions? Thanks Terry
  6. I think this might have been what you were thinking of: https://www.nelevation.com/ Very nice. Peterfgf
  7. I think @RobinofLoxley meant a series of tracks mounted one above another on a contraption which slides vertically up the wall so each track in turn lines up (horizontally) with the approach track. A company called Nelevation (https://www.nelevation.com) sold them commercially for a while but (last I heard on here) ran into production / supply difficulties. Nice concept though, and I suppose some people might be able to rig up a home-made version. The idea of all your stock peeling off the wall in one go if the rawlplugs failed would worry me a bit .......
  8. From the initial description, I actually thought you'd want something along the lines of the Neleveator (https://www.nelevation.com/). However looking at the website, the main issue is that the trains are loaded centrally, which means that half of the height of the unit is above the rail deck, which means that it wouldn't fit in the ship (or at least the standard 00 version, which takes 12 trains wouldn't. I'm sure that the same principles could be used to design a less tall version, but I suspect that a horizontal deck as your proposing is possibly the best way forward.
  9. Nelevation's website is still active, and they are actively promoting the product. I have seen a couple of user experiences reported. One was unable to achieve reliable performance despite considerable support from Nelevation and returned the unit for a full refund, the other a fully satisfied user. I believe that a significant problem for the product may well be the stability of the location in which it is installed. Mounting on a solid floor probably the most favourable for reliability. (This is educated guesswork on my part based on experience of a microprocessor controlled multi axis assembly kit that 'drifted' in registration on a suspended concrete floor in a steel frame building, but proved fully reliable when anchored to a ground level concrete block.)
  10. I have been trying for months to contact Nelevation via phone, email and even tried their 'sister' company Origin Product Design, no one answering their phones or email either. I presume this is a dead product now and expect them to appear on Companies house closure notices soon. With a complete lack of response I will have to go via Small Claims Court to try and get my £500 deposit back. Such a shame as this was such a good idea for a product.
  11. The site search throws up previous useful topics - https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/search/&q=Nelevation&quick=1
  12. Hello all, Anyone heading to the National Festival of Railway Modelling at the East of England Showground, Peterborough, may spot a pair of Revolution Trains Pendolinos running on the Nelevation display stand. Revolution would like to thank Allen and the Nelevation team for giving the Pendos a run out! Cheers Ben A.
  13. Because as I understand it, the 'transportation unit' is taken back by Nelevation and reused to transport further units. I don't believe it can be purchased - which is a shame as not only does it make for a decent stand, if the unit had to be relocated at a later stage (e.g. a house move) then the 'transportation unit' would prevent damage.
  14. Given up on ever receiving the 3ft OO Nelevation elevator so have sent them a letter asking for my deposit back. A quick rethink and the famework for the elevator should accommodate a 5 road fiddle atop (slightly narrow than the 7 road one that it had as an exhibition layout) but balanced out by the extra loco storage section for the elevator which should provide accommodation instead for shorter trains. So maybe in the near future a train might just run...
  15. I had one of the nelevation units on order. After 2 years I gave up and cancelled. They also cited issues with the maximum weight they could handle. Since most of my models are kitbuilt, a quick calculation showed their product simply couldn't do what it should. In my case at least.
  16. Are you thinking along these lines, Ray? http://www.nelevation.com/specifications/ They are limited to 12 trains and only 5 carriages plus a loco in length. Quite a clever design and a price tag to match, but as always you get what you pay for. The problem with a DIY vertical stack is one of weight and the height of the unit. The traverser has 15 roads and if you had them on 90mm centres, you'd have a height around 1.3m, which of course is without adding the height of your baseboard from the floor to accommodate the lowest shelf. Once the bottom shelf was lifted to the track bed, the top shelf would be through the ceiling..... Then you have that weight to lift and then hold it in place before gravity takes over and it all comes crashing down to the floor. Perhaps I've misunderstood your suggestion...... Had a good day today and one that may continue tomorrow looking at the weather forecast. I suspect golf will be off the menu. First job was adding all the control wiring for a dozen or so Tortoise motors. I'm so glad I cut all the tracks to separate the two boards, because it was pleasure standing at my work bench and adding the wires. The whole thing took less than an hour and no one was hurt in the process. Spent a while retraining myself on Templot and then set out to check if the extra down slope track could be accommodated. After an hour or so, I arrived at a reasonable solution without too much rework, so back to printing, cutting and sticking numerous templates to prove the theory. I had three goes at it as the spacing around the edge was critical, as was the distance to the existing tracks on the main board, but eventually I came up with a design that worked. It will mean one turnout on the gradient, but I don't see an issue if the trackbed is flat. Looking at this pic, we're talking about the two tracks on the left. The outer will go to the traverser and inner to ET main shed. It means cutting away a few feet of single track base back to the first turnout, so no real problems. Whilst playing with Templot, I totted up the length of each template to get an accurate figure on the gradients involved. I'm sure Martin will tell me there's a simple way, but I just opened each template in turn and then added up the overall length. The shed road is fine and came out at a gradient of 1:55. The traverser access road is not as long as first thought and that came out at 1:85, below my magic figure of 1:100, but I'm sure it will be fine for steam locos and seven coaches. If this all goes ahead, I'll be back to my other love, building turnouts. I'm going to try a slightly different build process as I did find myself tweaking the outer rails on ones I had built earlier as my long wheelbase locos with minimal side play on the drivers showed signs of binding. Leaving all the critical pieces in place and opening up the gauge a fraction of a mm soon solved that, so I want to bear that in mind when building the next one to see if that improves things. My goal is to have pointwork that all stock runs through freely, no matter if they are RTR or kit locos. So far 00-SF has answered all those questions, so thanks again Martin for introducing me to a standard I hadn't seen before.
  17. A bigger one of these needed? http://www.nelevation.com/
  18. I had a play with the nelevation one at the scottish model railway exhibition a couple of years back. A nice solution if you can afford one. If you do decide to motorise it all give me a shout, I'll blog the circuit diagrams for the one I built.
  19. That made me curious so I Googled it ,but it doesn't seem to be portrayed online. Other vertical traversers seem mainly to be wall-mounted, motorised ones. Here's a DIY example: http://www.rosewarnejunction.me.uk/vertical-traverser/ And a proprietary one I hadn't heard of: http://www.nelevation.com/
  20. Thank you for your wonderful layout thread and sorry to hear that you're in the wars. Just a thought, have you considered a Nelevation thingamajig?
  21. What region and era are you modelling? If you have the funds have you considered an Nelevation vertical fiddleyard? I would move the station away from running in a straight line parallel with the back scene and instead I'd place the whole station layout on a reverse curve – it'll look longer and more natural – You might have to loose the stream but that might be a price worth paying. I'd also study how Peter Denny resolved Leighton Buzzard on his classic Buckingham layout. He nearly uses the reserve curve concept but also packs an awful lot of operational interest into a tight space. Google and you'll see some images. Since your layout is end-to-end you can't really sit and watch trains go by – operating is far more interactive so I think you need to generate some rational behind extending the type of goods stock you run. You could for example, assume a junction up the line so you might have smaller length trains arriving that are assumed to have come from the secondary branch, perhaps even another company. You could layout the track and have a play with it so see what could be changed but I wouldn't be in too much of hurry - I'd work out the design in as much detail as you can before you start to build.
  22. It will be available in OO http://www.nelevation.com/variations/ Prices http://www.nelevation.com/price-list/
  23. Just had a email from Nelevation. They not be taking orders till late summer 2019. So back to designing a normal fiddle yard
  24. I have also been think of ordering one of the med N gauge for a planed layout. But after reading a few of the posts I am not sure now. It seems they are have a very good product but their seems to be no after sales support or how to manage the business. Lack of emails replies , no lead times given, long build times, very rarely web site gets updated. etc. I would like to know from anyone who have received one what their dealing were like with Nelevation Alan
  25. I have recently moved house and the Medium Size N Gauge version is exactly what I now need. Hopefully Nelevation will be open for orders again soon. If so, then hopefully there would be some indication of lead time from order to delivery. Fingers crossed. David
