RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted June 30, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 30, 2014 Hi Mike, sorry to hear about your eye, I hope the trouble goes away soon. It all looks very good I think - but then, with a Mogul and Dukedog on shed I'm easily won over :-) The bridge and the stonework around it is interesting, I haven't seen this style a lot on British layouts. westerner
Good to see this again. Just wondering whose make is the turntable?
RMweb Premium Sidecar Racer Posted July 1, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 1, 2014 Hi Mike, sorry to hear about your eye, I hope the trouble goes away soon. It all looks very good I think - but then, with a Mogul and Dukedog on shed I'm easily won over :-) The bridge and the stonework around it is interesting, I haven't seen this style a lot on British layouts. Thanks Mikkel , the bridgework and sluice is something I pulled together from ideas using part of what was there and adding bits to get the general appearance of a ' could of been built like this ' bridge . May not be a totally accurate scenario but it does what it was intended to do . The track work is accurate though . Excellent progress despite enduring the most disabling of conditions for modelling. Well done! Thanks Ian , all that is shown here was done before my eye op though , it's coming up to two weeks since the op and total vision in the affected eye might be another two months away . At the moment it's like looking through glass smeared with grease . Hi Mike Good to see you are back on track (puns if you want them to be ), I do like the look of your shed it remind me of Didcot puts my RTP to shame. We have used Didcot shed as the inspiration as it is very close to the original that was on the layout . Good to see this again. Just wondering whose make is the turntable? Hi Alan , the turntable is a heavily reworked Peco one , the pit was made shallower with packing ,the deck was also chopped about and some new carrying wheels cobbled up , the sides are just plasticard cut and shaped with truss work added to the sides and under the deck , again as a lot of our things , not 100% accurate but a fair representation from photos etc . It's powered by an MRD drive mechanism . Here are a couple of photos of the construction . Thanks to all for the likes etc , it makes the job worthwhile . I might add a few more photos later , but an appointment with the ' eye Doc ' is on the cards for this afternoon .
RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted July 1, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 1, 2014 I like the white cottage in the Smith's place, Mike - is that scratchbuilt, or from a kit? Lovely progress, by the way, and good luck with the eye and getting back to your normal modelling ability.

Hi Al , it's a card kit that Stu found on the net , I will get him on here to tell you who from as I cant remember . It is nice in that it is slightly textured and can have a detailed interior if you want to go to that length .
cornishexcile
Hi Al, The White Cottage is from a company called BarleycornDesigns.com. They are based in Norwich.Hope this helps. Yours Stu.

RMweb Premium Sidecar Racer Posted September 30, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 30, 2014 Sorry to those expecting a new update , soon, honest . These are a few photos of a layout that has attracted some interest in gwrrob's thread , rather than put my clutter there I will post them here for a few days then remove . RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted October 1, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 1, 2014 I see no need to remove these inspiring shots of a layout past. If pics on RMweb are intended to inform, entertain, stimulate, these fit the bill precisely. Thanks for posting!
RMweb Premium Sidecar Racer Posted October 2, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 2, 2014 As promised , here are some photo's of the North Devon MRC wartime layout . RMweb Premium Sidecar Racer Posted October 2, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 2, 2014 Now a bit more progress on our project . Stu has been busy getting the station buildings and platforms sorted out with fencing and valances etc , photo's of that to follow later . Meanwhile I've been concentrating on the scenic work by the Smiths shop . Mainly grassing in the area with an assortment of basket liner , different shades and lengths of static grass , adding weedy bits and a bit of garden , still have to get some more veg for that bit , adding hedges and other stuff . Here are the photo's of progress to date , hope you like them and apologies for the changeable lighting levels .

RMweb Premium Sidecar Racer Posted October 15, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 15, 2014 Greetings all , Work has been progressing nicely and a further update will be posted soon with details , in the meantime we had a bit of a photo shoot yesterday to see how things looked with stock in shot . Stu's youngest son came down with his pro set of camera and lens kit and took 115 photos , some are very arty in style and no less good for that , but here are a few more standard shots . I know we are lacking crews and passengers , it shows up so much more in photos , and some signs of dust and debris is evident , all will be done to a higher standard later . So in best gwrrob style . Our intrepid team of snappers first caught 6877 Llanfair Grange in charge of a train load of con flats heading through the junction on a down working , and then easing into the station . Next to be caught by the team was 4936 Kinlet Hall on a down passenger , again at and through the junction and stopping at the platform . Next seen departing under the road bridge and on to the river bridge . Then a few days later Dukedog 9003 is found coming through the early morning mist at the river . The mist extended back to the station and found the loco yard looking eerie in the early light . I think that will do for now , don't want to send you all to sleep . Hope you like some of these , expect more in the future when things are progressed some more . All photos courtesy and copyright of Andrew Eddy . RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted October 16, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 16, 2014 Very nice scenes! I like the view of the engine shed. The Dukedog and clerestories is a very appealing train. In that company, the Dukedog really shows its true age.

RMweb Premium Sidecar Racer Posted October 16, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 16, 2014 Tut Tut Mike.No lamps or crews to be seen.Double standards blah blah blah... To be fair I did point out areas that were not present in the second paragraph , this was after all just a test session in preparation for the future , but that said I'm not sure if we will be lamping the loco's , with a stock register of over 80 between us we'd spend more time faffing with lamps than playing running a railway . But that is still a while off so may yet change . A few more from the session .
