locoholic
I didn't manage to spend much time at the gala, but here's one shot I took last Friday near Trimpley, showing Sir Keith Park. Out of sight on the back of the train was Britannia.
Garethp8873
Final Diesel Gala visitor from the East Lancs Railway, BR Class 14 D 9531 'Ernest' has now arrived on the SVR. Fellow East Lancs resident BR 'Hymek' Class 35 D 7076 arrived yesterday. 28th and 29th September 2015 - Kidderminster Edited September 29, 2015 by Garethp8873
RMweb Gold tractionman Posted October 3, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 3, 2015 I see next year's SVR diesel gala is over the weekend of May 19th-21st - http://www.svr.co.uk/SEItem.aspx?a=101 I gave this year's SVR gala a miss, to go instead to the Gloucs Warks gala next weekend, having been to many an SVR October diesel gala over the past few years - I do like the Autumn leaves along the Valley, always atmospheric, though May's a lovely time too for the Severn Valley foliage - unfortunately for me I'll be missing next year's gala too, due to work commitments that same May weekend, so that'll mean it'll be two years without an SVR gala for me :-( Oh well. Hope everyone there today enjoys this year's gala, and the valley's golden leaves in the sunshine! (a plea for some pics). cheers, Keith
pete_mcfarlane
I went on Friday. I've been to this gala a few times before, and normally it seems to rain and I sit in half empty trains all day. This year it was sunny, and the trains were absolutely rammed with people, which should have brought in a fair amount of money for the railway. There also at least a hundred photographers along the lineside. It all seemed to go quite smoothly, and I didn't spot any of the drunken strange people who sometimes make a nuisance of themselves at Diesel galas. It was good to finally travel behind the class 17 - last time I saw that was on a school trip to the NYMR in 1985 when it as dumped out of use. bingley hall
Very enjoyable weekend on 19/20. Mainly stuck to the stations and trains, but still happy with some of the shots. As has already been said, thanks to all the volunteers for making it happen. sidmouth
A few stolen hours at the SVR for the Diesel Gala . An invite to visit Bewdley North was gratefully received and enabled the DMU crossing the viaduct to be captured . Andy M
For those of you with a love for the petite GWR 4-6-0's, 7802 Bradley Manor is now nearing completion. This is the rolling chassis in Bridgnorth yard this morning and the boiler fitting must be imminent. They are being very tight lipped on the chosen livery, but my money is on GWR green. Bradley Manor Frames.jpg Regards, Andy. My prediction was wrong regarding the livery………she has emerged in late crest BR Green. Three BR liveried Manors in steam for the upcoming Cambrian Gala will be a treat and there is also talk of Hinton Manor being back too! Andy.
sidmouth
Manor 50 will also feature 1450 on the Auto Coaches and 4566 on the toplights making a GWR/BR(W) weekend The timetable is already out with loco rosters and looks good with first train at 9am I will post a link shortly
Andy M
Things are gathering pace ready for the 'Manor 50' event. 7802 Bradley Manor is now out and about 'running in' and guest 7820 Dinmore Manor has arrived and taken residence at Bridgnorth. Both look magnificent, although that large tender just does not sit right on Bradley. 7812 Erlestoke Manor was also in operation today providing the long lost sight of three Manors in one station at the same time! Very much looking forward to next weekend. Andy.

Andy M
Evening All, Spent a fantastic day on the Severn Valley at the 'Manor 50' event. The weather did not play ball at all and it was very busy, but where else do you get the opportunity to travel behind three 78xx's in one sitting. Here are a few photos for your viewing pleasure of the ever popular Collett 4-6-0's. It was not all Manors though, with 4566 and 1450 providing the supporting cast. Just to top things off, I ended up spending way too much in the shop at Bridgnorth on auto-coaches and books! Regards, Andy.

BobM
Hello Guys..... Began 2016 with a 'riding the cushions' day.......steam heat being what it is....all molecular activity had seemingly ceased from a zone beneath my knees on the first service off Bridgnorth this morning...but ended in soporific warmth......Here's to a great New Year eh.... RMweb Premium Andy Kirkham Posted January 3, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 3, 2016 I had an enjoyable day out to the SVR on New Year's Eve, and while looking round the displays at the Engine House was reminded of a seemingly obscure phase in the line's history - when the southern end of the railway remained open to serve Arley colliery until 1969. Are there any photos of this era? I'd be interested to see shots of, for instance a blue Class 25 with coal wagons crossing Victoria Bridge or rumbling through Bewdley station.
