estarriol
It is also excellent for cleaning paint off metal items, I use it to strip pewter wargames figures (friend is a printer, he does the same). Do not use on plastic though unless you want blobs....

allan downes
Bow girder bridge. At almost 4ft long, and 4 sides like it, this is only the tip of the ice burg! As luck would have it, our TV stand is curved along the front so all I had to do in order to strike the arch was to get the missus to sit the stand on top of the material while I did all the heavy work scribing around the edge. At the moment we're not talking... Cheers. Allan

allan downes
Bow girder bridge. Because this bridge is of sandwich construction with upright trusses in between four sides had to made leaving no room for bodgery ! Here's one side almost complete and because the bridge is set on a skew it has to be offset yet still match the arched profile of the opposite span. Fun, games and expletives ensured it did ! Cheers. wagoneer
Where do I begin? Finding a suitable place to make a first post on this forum was always going to be hard. My yet to begin blog charting the progress of our layout will contain the details but having found this epic on building er, building, I found myself well and truly hooked by the game of quality tennis being played out by messrs Downes and Robinson. This thread has got me started in earnest (It's near South East London) on the physical aspects of our set-up and I've almost ignored the trainy things. Thank you to all the contributors for providing plenty of inspiration - I now find that I look at buildings in a very different way, wondering how I might build them in OO scale.... Kelly Hi Kelly and a massive welcome to the forum and, indeed, this Thread. allan downes
One side of bow girder bridge finished and in paint. Cheers. Allan.
allan downes
Both sides of bow bridge complete. Each side will be offset to acommodate the skew but at the same time each will have to correspond to the arched profile otherwise the cross braces won't fit square. So, one side is a panel shorter at one end, and has an extral panel at the other. Anyway, I know what I mean ! Cheers. Allan.
