June 2013 - new traffic from Methrose at Burngullow

Recommended Posts

The scheduled 7Z26 ran a day later later than suggested. It departed Westbury 1st October at 06.30 running as 6Z26 with 59004 in charge. The weather was foul, so I did a close up station shot at St Austell. The train departed later in the afternoon 15.34 as 6Z27.

A good week for aggregates! Sand is scheduled Sun 12th / Mon 13th & Thurs / Fri (Two trips). I have been told that the down Sun working may have fuel tanks included for BZ. Pity it runs at night.

The extra sand trips will undoubtedly be because there are no daytime paths for freights via Yeovil for the 3 week Whiteball blockade.

Time to re start this topic I think:

Sun 14th June

6V11 runs down during the evening from Westbury arriving Burngullow 00.34

Returns Mon 15th June

6C10 12.53 Burngullow to Exeter Riverside (first portion)

Loco returns

0C10 16.05 from Exeter to St Blazey

0C12 19.44 St Blazey to Burngullow

6L12 21.26 Burngullow to Bow Depot

Timings may be slightly out depending on loading. Loco may not return to BZ either, may run direct to Burngullow.

66118 in DBS red allocated already Talk of MEA wagons - which would be very interesting...

Today's first run, first portion. 66118 looks rather spick and span compared to the shabby MEAs. Come to Cornwall for 4 wheeled wagon freight trains!!

Daryl was over seeing events and wisely placed an unloaded wagon at the rear of the second portion. I was glad for some good old fashioned shunting around in the sunshine.

And finally, on the move passing Carlyon Bay - just as the sun went in, never mind.

Great pictures as always Craig, but can I ask what the advantage of an empty wagon at the rear would be?

Is that a return service I see just pulling into Exeter as I type? Hope this continues for a while, so good to see some extra freight in the South West  :sungum:

Second working is 66118 again and MEA wagons although is rumoured to be going over to bigger wagons at some point soon. There will be two trains at Burngullow today as the CDA's from Fowey will be heading out there this morning to load on the Parkandillack branch.
