Excellent video! Thanks for sharing.

That's a thrashy departure. It has to be up their with one of the best that I have seen from DRS 37s.

Kind Regards,

Danny.

That one would go equally well on the "human side of the railway" thread.

A picture from today's trip to booths, I would post another but site says I reached my limit.

I often get this is there a way of making pictures less data heavy.?

After editing it let me post another which is Holmes Junction, Rotherham

Had to take my step daughter to the GP to register locally as she's for a lot longer than expected.

Obviously I timed it to get @russ p passing Eccles as her visit was not an appointment so the time was "whenever"

First photo since the lock down.

Great picture Dave, quite of few people today seemed to take their daily exercise at the time when we were due. There is going to  be some super fit people about after this as some of them were still exercising on our return.

Quite sad taking perfectly serviceable coaches for scrap. On arrival at rotherham I did the ground work,  they wanted all the coaches split but they said all the pipes were scrap so I just shut the brake pipe cocks pulled buckeye chain and got the loco to draw forward most separated ok but one tore the cock from the headstock.  No problem though as they will never see air again.

On a plus note a substantial amount have found new owners.

Hard to believe that this really is more or less the end of conventional hauled stock as mk4 and especially mk5 are far from conventional

With the Rhymney Valley services having come to an end, 37 418 and 37 421 are now in storage at Landore along with 10 x Mk2s.

Today saw 418 fired up as part of it's weekly exam

And 421 arriving light engine from Derby.

Locos & coaches being kept in readiness should they be required back in service for TfW, although in the present climate, this is unlikely.

37032 was the first preserved 37 to move under it's own power and work a train driven by myself

At the time it was a bit of a forgotten loco but a lot of work was going on quietly including taking the main gen out and having it reconditioned which involved power unit removal.

Two of the lads involved are sadly no longer with  us Chris  Broadhurst and Tony Long.

But were very happy and rewarding times looking back even though I'm sure we had problems with the loco

I wish the sanding gantry had been there when I was a secondman there as if you were on the shed one of the duties was to fill the sand boxes with a sand can and if the loco was empty it took ages

Apparently the sanding gantry wasn't too reliable the drying building was there for many years after the gantry had gone. Don't think ever seen a sand gantry anywhere else that spanned so many roads
