pH
#4 is at Thornton Junction Yes, and that picture has been on this topic before (post#669).
RRU
Yes, and that picture has been on this topic before (post#669). Sorry about that. About one third of the images on this disc are duplicates. I thought I had deleted them but this one slipped through. Any ideas on the other three? Porcy Mane
My money is on DE320206 I certainly wouldn't bet against that. I've been told that it lived in the south bays at Doncaster for a couple of years (When not out on the road) during the early/mid 1960's. Apparently it was usually kept company by a SR 12 t box van that was branded, "External Use Doncaster passenger station only". P
RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted February 16, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 16, 2016 According to the link below 58148 and 58182 were the last two surviving Midland 2fs and were shedded at Coalville from 1962 until withdrawal in 1964 - photos could be Coalville perhaps but Leicester, Burton and Wellingborough are also options. pH
#1 in the latest batch is definitely Coalville - https://www.flickr.com/search/?q=coalville+shed
pH
And #2 is there, too - see second and third images on this page - http://www.rcts.org.uk/features/archive/search.htm?company=LMSR&subtype=&class=&location=Coalville&srch=&page=

pH
#1 - possibly Carstairs station. #2 - probably Carstairs shed. 90768 looks to be withdrawn, was withdrawn from there, and was dumped in the shed yard. I saw it there on September 7 1963. #4 - probably Corkerhill shed. 40615 looks to be withdrawn, was withdrawn from there, and was dumped in the shed yard. I saw it there on February 23 1963. luckymucklebackit
PH is definitely correct on #1, no idea about #2 and #4, but #3 is Motherwell Shed. Jim
RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted February 17, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 17, 2016 He's spot on with 2 & 4 too!!! Phil
pH
#3 is Motherwell Shed. Jim Agree - the doorways are distinctive.

RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted February 18, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 18, 2016 Isnt #1 Carstairs again - very distinctive bracket signal in background? Phil
luckymucklebackit
#3 and #4 are both at Stirling, I think #2 may be Dunfermline, 65253 was allocated there for all of its BR career Jim
pH
#3 and #4 are at Stirling shed - https://www.flickr.com/photos/24041160@N02/9660600823/ (Edit - snap, Jim!)
pH
Agree #2 is at Dunfermline shed - https://www.flickr.com/photos/78965852@N03/7235897342/ - see the details of the building in the background.
pH
Agree with Phil that #1 is at Carstairs shed. There's a picture in volume 5 of "LMS Engine Sheds" that shows that 5-arm bracket signal, the 2-arm post behind it and the tower/post above 54502's cab. luckymucklebackit
Based on many folks experience with the Hornby K1, photo 3 be a good prototype if Hornby ever did a J36
RRU
Two pairs of engines. Also what rail section are the second pair standing on? It looks much lighter. 1 2 3 4 Peter
pH
#2 and #3 are at Thornton Junction shed. The tall building in the background is Rothes Colliery, and appears in many pictures taken at Thornton Junction shed. I think #4 is Thornton Junction shed as well. Here's a picture which, I think, shows the same 'pit bing' in the background - https://www.flickr.com/photos/80572914@N06/7388463350/in/album-72157630164445452/. Also, 67672 was withdrawn from Thornton. I saw it on the scrap line there on 28 September 1963.
pH
I think #1 could also be Thornton Junction, based on the design of the yard lamp and comparing it to the lamps in pic#2 and in this one - https://www.flickr.com/photos/80572914@N06/7388456290/in/photolist-dnnz68-cmjG6f-cmjGtA-cfTLNE-cfTLDq-cfTNK9 . Plus 64629 was a Thornton engine for many years.
Mike Storey
Peter - if the running line in front is 95ib per yard bullhead, then the track the locos are standing on in rear is 85lb, which was more commonly used on branches and sidings. If the lines in front are 85lb, then the rails in rear could be anything! (75 or 80lb ? which would make them very old indeed - not even a BS no. for them). Fat Controller
#2 and #3 are at Thornton Junction shed. Also, 67672 was withdrawn from Thornton. I saw it on the scrap line there on 28 September 1963. Wasn't Rothes the pit that flooded whilst still being sunk, never producing coal for sale? BR had upgraded Thornton Yard, in anticipation of the traffic which never arrived.
