JeffP
Aye, all four Darlington, a place I never visited, even in diesel days. I've researched photos before and sought out places from it's heritage, but not a lot left.

JeffP
The last one, Brits were often used on the Harwich to Manchester boat train, where an EM2 would take over at Sheffield, later an EM1.

jonny777
31271 is at Bricklayers Arms shed. The N2s look as if they are at New England, but I'm not 100% sure as the main shed was of brick construction - but I'm sure this view has featured in an id thread before but with different locos. Edited, because now identified as KX sub shed.

Pics 2 & 3, Stratford. post#735, #1 the 'Brick' again, 2 & 3 Hither Green, 4 Stratford. Although a little unsure about #2, it could be Norwood J ??? bike2steam
1 - Bricklayers Arms (?)not 100% certain 2 & 3 - Stratford 4- same as post#735/1, the disc above the centre of the buffer beam means, amongst others, light engine London Bridge to Bricklayers Arms ( I think ?), 34008 was allocated to Brighton at the time I'm thinking those pics were taken - 1961-ish ( or early 62) ? RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted January 16, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 16, 2016 The Class 27 28, the L&Y one rather than the BRCW, is at Sowerby Bridge. Edited to correct class, too intent on identifying the background.

D5355 was new to Eastfield in 28/09/61, D5604 would have been allocated to Finsbury Park at the same time. Keith D5355 was new to 65A on 28 Sept 1961. D5604 was new to 34B on 7 April 1960 but has dirty bogies. I would suggest it has returned to Doncaster Works for some attention and has met the Class 27 which is on acceptance testing. RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted January 21, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 21, 2016 Last one looks like the bays at Plymouth. The A4 I think is Mallard. If so it could possibly be the Northern Rubber Special from Retford to Blackpool, 30 Sept 1961. Seems to be attracting some attention, I remember it being well publicised, I have a photo of it at Blackpool. If you can read it the reporting number was on a plate on the middle lamp bracket and was 1X08
