So while the 47 is still on the naughty shelf, I've done a bit to the 37.

Normally I'd get Railtec to make up complete number sets for whatever I'm doing (much easier on the eyes ! :O) but for some reason I seem to be turning projects around faster than usual, so I haven't got them in stock !

So it's oldskool style re-numbering .

T-cut the old ones off, and add new ones from 3 separate decals.

Then masked up for the satin varnish, to hopefully blend into the original finish.

Varnish applied.

20200418_150204_resized.jpg.b5f6739cdaa4d7dd15839d71866ddd8d.jpg

masking removed.

Also satin varnished the repainted Yellow ends & snowploughs.

Cheers,

Phil.

Straight-forward numbersets are still getting turned around really quickly Phil, if you need others. (Requests for new design work is still a completely different beast, lest anyone chime in )

Hi Steve,

I’ve already got the numbers for the 47, but I’ll be on to you for whatever I’m doing after that ! :wink_mini:

cheers,
Phil.

Remedial action on the 47.

Rub down with 2000 grit sandpaper, masked up & resprayed.

There's a couple of places that still show if the light catches it, but if I don't tell anyone, I don't think they'll notice.

Cheers,

Phil.

The 37 has overtaken the 47 !

Body back in one piece, weathering wash applied, and airbrush weathering all done yesterday.

This is after the wash has been applied, but before airbrushing.

Hopefully get pics later of it back in one piece !

Cheers,

Phil.

This is as far as I can get with the 37, until I get the nameplates and depot diamonds.

Plan is to use it for double heading, so couplings needed both ends, which is why the ploughs are mounted on the bogies.

Pics I'm working from show it having just the stump of the nose mounted aerial !

The 47 has had gloss varnish sprayed where the tranfers will go.

Cheers,

Phil.

Something so lovely about a TTG 47. Glad to see it’s turned out well after the masking issue.

Can't remember seeing many without subsector stickers running on exhibition layouts, but I remember seeing plenty of real ones on spotting trips !

Cheers,

Phil.

Airbrush weathering followed that.

Then it spent a night in the airing cupboard, before this mornings rebuild.

This is the result....

The NSE 4TC I got for my birthday, is next over the bench.

First job is remove the curtains from the windows, as it seems they lost them when they were painted into this livery.

Kinda wish I hadn't started !!

But gotta keep going now, and it should make a noticeable difference compared to my Blue/Grey one.

2 more coaches still to do !

Cheers,

Phil.

As the 4TC is waiting for passengers I've started something else.

I could put them in myself, but I think Jack enjoys chopping the bodies up! :butcher::o

Anyway, when Bachmann announced this, it would have been rude not to add it to the fleet.

20200428_095510_resized.jpg.aa645791e2916f0e54ac437207a59fb0.jpg

Would have been too easy to run it unloaded, so a rummage through the spares box turned up some wheels.

No idea where they originated.

20200428_095552_resized.jpg.d1a995a8bee99e69ea31787b66602edc.jpg

The CDA wheels that the wagon carried have Brake Disks on one wheel of each axle, so a bit of shuffling round will get that sorted.

The 'plain' wheels shouldn't have holes, but I'll live with that.

The 'disks' are on both faces of the wheel, so some etched ones found in the spares box will be fitted to the inner faces. They're bright Green on new wheelsets, so stand out a mile in pics!

The pinpoints will be cut off.

They seem to be arranged with 4 axles in each half of the wagon, but I've no proof as to how they were held in place.

I guess that battens were used to stop things from moving around, so I'm thinking of doing something like this.

First job is making the floor look more realistic.

Cheers,

Phil.

Last couple of days have seen the wagon weathered, the wheels made ready for loading, and passengers fitted to the 4TC.

Suppose I better start putting everything back together !

Wagon is loaded.

The wheel faces don't appear half as rough to the eye as they do in the pics !!

A very nice looking 4TC! What did you use to remove the curtains - it's a job i also need to do!

cheers

Will

I removed the windows and used methylated spirit on cotton buds.

A tedious job, but not difficult.

Before I started on the curtains, I tried rubbing white spirit onto the clear plastic that’s hidden behind the bodywork, to check that it didn’t turn the plastic opaque. It didn’t, but then neither did it remove the curtains when I tried it !!

So I repeated the process with meths, and bingo....

cheers,

Phil.

Really nice Phil.  I don't even model the Southern Region but you make me want one of these.

I can't find my old Combined Volumes to check, but weren't the 80xx series the 4-REPs and the 4-TCs numbered in the 4xx series?

4-REPs were originally 3001 upwards and 4-TC 401 up.

Later renumbering and the REPs were 2001 (Class 432) and the TCs 8001(Class 438)
