RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted August 11, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 11, 2019 So, another box of stuff that's fallen out of use, has ended up on the workbench !! Figured they don't get used with our 'modern' era, so they might as well be back-dated for use in our 'retro' era. The 'Dutch' one at the back is missing bogies (they ended up under a kit-built crane!) but I'll get some replacements for it. The Olive Green one was sprayed with over-thinned matt varnish many years ago, and it bloomed spectacularly !! The other 'Dutch' one can stay as it is, the number doesn't clash with any of the other few I have completed previously. The rest are all going Olive Green. Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted August 11, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 11, 2019 Nerd alert !! All wagons stripped down and separate parts bagged up for individual wagons. The Green one was attacked with cotton buds dipped in White Spirit, which got a fair bit of the varnish off. Got a bit carried away TBH, and stripped down the bogie-less Dutch one, before realising there wasn't any need to !! Cheers, Phil.

Phil that's not nerdy putting disassemble parts in snap bags....just good organisation efficiency! Disappointed you didn't print labels off the pc with running numbers and weathering details for each bag! That would of taken you to nerd god status . G But I'm more of a wing-it / make-it-up-as-I-go-along kinda Guy, so bagging stuff up is not really my 'bag' !! Anyway, painted the wagons Green, and as is more my style, while I was spraying them I decided to see if the EWS Maroon would look ok as 'rust' showing through the Green, so I sprayed the ends and the side ribs, but only put a thin coat over the flat parts of the sides. RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted September 8, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 8, 2019 Been a while since the last update. ( holidays got in the way !! ) Since the last instalment, the wagons have been- Gloss varnished, had transfers applied, Matt varnished, had weathering powder 'rust' applied, had the interiors weathered with randomly applied 'rust' and 'frame dirt' paint, and then Matt varnished again. Cheers, Phil. 10

RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted September 21, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 21, 2019 While my Son is on a roll with adding passengers to things, he's populated a class 121 ! It's also had the floor painted in the passenger compartment, and the luggage compartment has been toned down a bit from the original bright yellow. A driver has been added to the front cab, and a guard is hiding in the rear cab (regardless of direction of travel !!) Cheers, Phil. 7

RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted September 23, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 23, 2019 A start has been made to the weathering. Dark wash added to the doorshuts, handrails, and around the row of rivets just below the cantrail. After it had dried, a toothbrush was used in downward strokes over the whole body. Cheers, Phil. 7
