Jack374
On the subject of class 37 bogies....you don't have a model of 37099 'Merl Evans' do you Phil? If anyone does, you'll need both bogie types at once! And for your audible pleasure: Jack. 2

RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted January 6, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 6, 2019 Bit of progress on the 37 over the last few days. I wasn't going to strip the ends off originally, but I decided it would probably be easier to handle for masking if I did. Was also going to use the original Yellow on the ends, until I thought it would probably be easier to mask the 'outside' of the Yellow panel than the 'inside', which also gave the added advantage of it actually ending up the right colour !! (ploughs were also painted at the same time, so it all matches.) In my haste to get the paint on it during the weekend, and even though I added the top lamp-bracket, I forgot to add the extra handrails to the nose sides, so I'll have to put them on later. 5
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted January 13, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 13, 2019 More progress, including- Gloss varnish (enamel) sprayed where transfers are going. Transfers added. A 'Roof Dirt' wash (acrylic) brushed over all grills & recesses. Airhorn grills painted 'Brass' (enamel (only because that's the paint I had!!) ). Satin varnish (acrylic) sprayed over all body to seal everything, & give a uniform finish. Cheers, Phil. 12
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted January 13, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 13, 2019 Nice work Phil. Are you going to stick a RILA kit on the front? Cheers, MIck
Jack374
Looking good Phil...never mind the RILA kit, scratchbuild a big Kirow crane and have it hauling that! https://www.flickr.com/photos/60539035@N02/16109917875/in/photolist-qdQ14X-qxzxjK-bUbVSQ-pyhuP8-qvt1bd Are you planning on putting sound in it? Jack. Unfortunately ( ) both those pics are too early for my version..... ....wrong bogies, blue stars on the ends, Cantrail stripe in a different place above the cabs. I couldn't possibly possibly make such a faux pas.... ...it's absolutely nothing to do with not wanting to build the camera mount or the crane !! Cheers, Phil. PS Wasn't planning on putting sound in, my Dad is still stuck in the DC dark ages and the layout they run on is at his house ! Although he is both baffled & fascinated by DCC sound, so I'm gradually working him around to the idea. I've put 'full-fat' sound in a few loco's, as seen earlier in my thread, and these live on the DCC shunting plank we have. There's also some loco's with TTS chips, so they work in the way he's familiar with on the main layout, but when he wants to practice shunting on the plank, he can make more noise !
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted January 18, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 18, 2019 (edited) Chassis mods completed (different shape buffers at one end, tank steps removed, modified fuel tank gauge, speedo drive, etc). All back together, ready for a light weathering. Cheers, Phil. Edited January 18, 2019 by Phil Mc 15

Jack374
Looking good Phil, following test runs could it haul a charter to Doncaster next month perhaps? Maybe travelling via Derby?? Jack.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted January 20, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 20, 2019 I'd not noticed until I looked at these pics, but it'll need the front windscreen sorting out before it runs anywhere !! Other than that, a light coat of weathering completes the loco. Cheers, Phil. 12

RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted February 24, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 24, 2019 It's been a month since I last posted. Haven't really got much done (life getting in the way!!) but I have managed to complete a model of NSE 47582. Got family in Norfolk, so a model of this particular loco seemed appropriate. Picked up a cheap 47576, which looked unloved, plenty of chips to the paintwork and printing, etc. The White paint showing on the roof I could sort, the Orange missing from the cantrail, and Red from the body stripes, didn't look especially out of place compared to prototype pics. The bodyside writing was particularly scratched, but as the nameplates and numbers had to go anyway, I took the whole lot off.! Forgot to take a pic before work commenced ( ), but other than that, the process is shown, start to finish. Cheers, Phil.

RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted March 22, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 22, 2019 Gradually plodding on with the tractor..... ETH boxes added. WR lampbrackets added, only 3 though !! so repainted Yellow ends to keep a consistent colour. The logic of removing the Black headcode panel when I'll have to add it back in, was to have some Yellow showing through in patches as per prototype. Blue patches where the plates were removed also added. Cheers, Phil.
