RMweb Gold unravelled Posted June 26, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 26, 2016 Watching the culvert build. I'm curious about the old one. Is it still in place below the new construction? Will the new replace the old, or double (?) the capacity, as well continue to operate at at higher tide levels. If the old one was inadequate in some way, could excess water flowing across the tracks have contributed to the sea wall collapse? Thanks Dave
jcredfer
Difficult to say what is going on today, as it was 0815, the start of today's day shift . Looks like they are mixing their own. Also noted, the plastic pipe work has been moved up,on site. image.jpeg It will be interesting to see if those black pipes are just placed in-between the walls of the water feature as a conduit, or if they will get surrounded by cement between the tubes and the walls. Doughnut
All the best Mr.T. Have enjoyed chatting mate, but like Jaz and a whole load of others before me, cant stomach the people in charge on here anymore. Hopefully, somehow, I'll be able to keep checking on DP. Keep up the great modelling. Dave
David Todd
Watching the culvert build. I'm curious about the old one. Is it still in place below the new construction? Will the new replace the old, or double (?) the capacity, as well continue to operate at at higher tide levels. If the old one was inadequate in some way, could excess water flowing across the tracks have contributed to the sea wall collapse? Thanks Dave The new culvert build. The culvert,is referred to as "The Dover Corporation Culvert". After investigation, exploration and finding the beach level was 3-4 meters lower than historical levels There is a possibility of replacing the existing culvert, with a single or double pipe, above the level of the said culvert. Then infilling and abandon the Dover Corporation culvert. By raising the culvert level they can redesign the beach outfall chamber, into the new rock amour. This higher level is also an allowance for the beach recharging itself. They have determined that the beach material is shingle and should it reach the outfall, water will still flow out. Fat Controller
They've noticed the beach material is shingle? Matthew Arnold could have told them that.
David Todd
Coronation St. Early, start of day shift today 0800-0900 . Corporation Culvert, this morning. Its seems, the shuttering was completed and a pour made, but not to tops level, assume reinforcing to afix. First thing to happen was to transport the beach team over the wall,to carry on with the outfall. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 27, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 27, 2016 I would have thought that those in the business would actually know how to demolish a structure like that and which tools they should use to do the job safely and quickly. maybe this lot are construction experts and not demolition/dismantling experts?
