David Todd
$th picture down ....... no sooner have they laid the concrete rafr, then they dig it up again. :scratchhead: [splinter time!!] J The 2th pic down is the subway under the A20, which is ankle deep after heavy rain. David Todd
$th picture down ....... no sooner have they laid the concrete rafr, then they dig it up again. :scratchhead: [splinter time!!] J The 4th pic, they have added a concrete working surface around 2 rows of exposed pile heads. Unless,of course, your humour is the removal of the fore n' aft raft shuttering. They do need to dry it,by letting the airflow, underneath. Fat Controller
It was the machine with the pneumatic drill bit on it's jib, in the middle of the large new raft.. J I think that was the one that was isolated near the tunnel portals whilst the work on the first section of deck was being carried out; it probably got lonely, and wanted to join its friends.. RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted June 22, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 22, 2016 Just and idle thought, and no I'm not licensed the think, I wonder if the next job for those rigs might be in the Eden Valley on the S&C. Reading the latest guff on the Friends of the Settle and Carlisle facebook page they are planning a very similar type of viaduct to get round the unstable part. The only problem would be the lack of such an excellent correspondent to keep us updated. It's rather a remote site. Jamie

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 22, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 22, 2016 Judging by the size of those rebar 'mattresses' and that blue shuttering (?) they are going to be some quite high walls on that viaduct - even after it's been ballasted (assuming it will be ballasted).

David Todd
Today hoping to get up there around 1000, once the rains have cleared through. Yesterday,it looked as though the water feature walls were near to a concrete pour, am intrigued as to how the roof will be poured. Also, the recent small pour of the working surface area for raft 2, adjacent to Raft 1 was being scrupously cleaned up. I would like to catch the joint of the two rafts. Earlier, while trying to track down a "Night Ferry" headboard, for DJMs models of the Class 71/74, I came across this image, which is the wooden trestle, which now lies below the on going project. Also an image from Dave F photos Of the Seawall in the late 70s, with a beach fishing competitors.
