georgeT
Have made a start on the station building, l have not cut out the doors as they will be closed anyway, its a bit on the big side for CA but l can live with that, construction is made with 2mm soft plywood and glued together with PVA / superglue... Andrew P
Looks very good mate, but I think the Building may look better towards the Buffers if you have the room.

georgeT
Had a visit from a fellow RM Webber John (allegheny 1600) and bought with him a USA tank loco which he had bought from Ree Models (fitted) DCC with sound, l said its a shame l don't have DCC anymore John then said no worries and put it on the track at CA, when l turned on the DC controller the lights came on, and when l turned the power up the sound kicked in, and she pulled away with a gentle chuff l was amazed and played with it for ages, no whistles or extras on DC just a gentle hiss with nice chuffing...very nice and all for £180..got me thinking ? hahahaha

bobster
Looking good George - Great purposeful Loco's the USA Dock Tanks, but I don't think a one would have got to CA in reality would it ??, but with modellers licence who knows. Cheers, Bob.
tender
Hi George, was that the Model Rail USA tank? If it was I hadn't realised it had been released. £180 for sound loco seems good value compared with some of the other manufacturers efforts.
RMweb Gold jamest Posted February 16, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 16, 2016 Hi George, Can I ask a question on the Gauge-master controller you bought? Does the 'W' come with a transformer? Or do you have to buy one separately? I know the 'Combi' comes with a transformer - but I like the idea of the 'W' with the longer lead (I don't need an accessory output). I notice you say you will use your own, but that doesn't mean you didn't get one with the controller. All the best, James
georgeT
Hello James, Yes you will need a tranformer to work the gaugemaster W, lucky that l have saved some from other projects, the longer wire has four wires on the end blue / yellow go to the power and red / black go to the track, the longer wire means l can operate CA from both sides... Marcus 37
Layouts coming on in leaps and bounds George. Nice workmanship with the wooden buildings. they will certainly be nice and sturdy once they're finished. Nice idea using the staples to put the cowling's on the engine shed chimneys. Cheers Marcus
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted February 16, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 16, 2016 Heyup George, I haven't looked in for a while, but you've made some cracking progress. I agree with Marcus, your woodwork on the Engine shed, platform and Station buildings is exquisite, I could never manage to be that neat with wood, for some reason, it always looks like the dog chewed it. Looking forward to more. Al.

Cheers Lads, The plywood l use is only 2mm thick and is so easy to cut doors windows etc etc, so l build the building first then decide where l want the window / doors etc it sticks together with PVA / Superglue and is nice to sand to a nice finish..
