Whilst in York, would be wrong not to have a quick look around. 68024 on a Scarborough service. Working near to Stourbridge Junction, you can hear these locos climb up from Lye. But listening to this pull out of York yesterday, I can understand why residents complain about the noise. Personally, I love these loco's

Good news everyone I've finally managed to 'capture' ALL the TPX Class 68s! It's taken 3 years but I've finally done it!

68028 Lord President passes through York earlier today.

Since I started 68 spotting in 2021, and since then I've seen ones I've already 'caught' multiple times and yet somehow THIS ONE has managed to evade me!

Well, I finally saw it last month stabled in Gascoigne Wood but I couldn't get a photo but this photo officially means that it's now been 'caught' and my 68 search is now done!

Posted in good faith, but whether it survives intact until the December timetable change is a moot point.  Based on recent experience, day-to-day substitutions by class 185s can be anticipated.

What is replacing these units?

Nothing.

The frequency of TransPennine Express services from the December 2023 timetable is being reduced and that, together with better diagramming of their existing class 802s and the full fleet of class 185s means that they can dispense with the class 68s and Mark5As.

This provides a pretty good summary of the position;
