jazz
Hi. Got it wired up and a good testing on the layout. Coaled her up and added the loco crew. Glazing done too. Just the Dinghams to fit and order the BR transfers from Tower Models. The finally some weathering here and there. She run very well with the Slater's motor unit. (Excuse the blobs on the photo, dust on the lens now removed) Edited June 3, 2018 by jazz
jazz
Hi. Just before starting the next loco I did a run with the F2 arriving with the first goods train. She has been lightly weathered after the Fox transfers dried for 24hrs in the airing cupboard. Very pleased with this loco and it's performance. Now it's on with another Gladiator kit, this one is the LMS rebuilt Patriot 6P.

N15class
Very nice Ken. I seem to remember mine I did with LMS and a BR number.
jazz
Superb as always, Ken! (Is it me or is the cab side 6 wonky?) Regards, Deano. Thanks Deano. Definitely not wonky. (Check out the unlettered photos above). It's the weathering I applied and the photo makes it look that way. (In reality it looks just fine.)
jazz
Very nice Ken. I seem to remember mine I did with LMS and a BR number. Thanks Peter. I noticed that you had LMS with the BR number. I was tempted to follow suit but that only lasted a very short time before changing to BR livery.

jazz
Hi On with the Rebuilt Patriot now. As always, starting with the tender. As usual with Gladiator kits, not difficult to do. The usual issue with the coal Shute requiring some shaving and tweaking to get a good fit. The chassis is a doddle.
jazz
Hi. Tender boxed off, all pretty straight forward and went together well. Now on with the business end.
jazz
Hi. A start now made on the Chassis. So far this is the easy peasy bit. Next is getting the slide bars and piston rode to run silky smooth. Then all the fiddly valve gear.
jazz
Hi. Spent this afternoon on the moving parts. A fair bit of filing and smoothing done until they where moving like silk.
jazz
Hi. This is as far as I am going with the chassis for now. The bogie and starting the body tomorrow. Quite a bit of fiddling, filing and adjusting until it all operated without fouling in the tight areas.
jazz
Hi. Today, in between a little work on the layout, I have the bogie all done. Pleased to say there is plenty of swing without hitting the cylinders etc. Cab front & sides done also spent ages punching out 1,000's of rivets. So a busy day.
jazz
Hi. Ever slowly forwards. More rivets to punch out, going dotty now . Anyway took a while to get the firebox correctly bent to shape and a bit fiddly soldering all the washout plugs in place. Eventually all nicely bolted together now. Onwards with some detailing next.
jazz
Hi. Progressing well now. Not much to say about the detailing, all pretty straight forward really. Just taking care with the boiler/firebox bands to get them straight and bang on the measurements given on the diagrams. Hated having to anneal the firebox though. th brass Wass a bit too heavy to do it with tigers and bars, leaving it looking quite grotty. Never mind, it will look ok under the primer. I see what I get can done tomorrow. Edited June 16, 2018 by jazz
jazz
Hi. Most of the detail work now completed. I have the cab interior & roof plus the smoke deflectors to do. Also a small amount of pipework. Here it is so far.
jazz
Hi. Had it running today, all OK. I just have the return cranks to fit and connect to the links. Then that's the rebuilt Patriot all done and dusted.
N15class
Looks good a mite quicker than my Jubilee.
jazz
Thanks Peter. I will probably start the Jubilee build end of next week. (Of course I could change that to one of the others awaiting under the bench.)
jazz
Hi. After a very nice break in France & Belgium, yesterday saw the start of the LMS Jubilee. (You will notice the provided tender wheels are used ones and a rough primer job already done on them.) The chassis was very simple to assemble, the body is now underway. This it it so far. jazz
Hi. Tender is ready for cleaning and priming. The chassis is now under way. Quite straight forward and the same as the Patriot just completed.
N15class
Cor blimey I feel slow after seeing this. My jubilee tender still needs it's brakes. Mind you I am quite please considering I probably only getting an hour or so a day. Is yours going to be a long firebox version as it has the Fowler tender? jazz
Hi Peter. This will be the SFB version. There is loads of photos in the book of them with the Fowler tender. As a rule Peter, I do get most days 5hrs + at the bench. I could not cope with only an hour at a time, I would loose track of where I was with the build Edited July 4, 2018 by jazz
jdb82
As a rule Peter, I do get most days 5hrs + at the bench. I think I'm turning a deep shade of green with envy! I'm lucky if I managed to sneak 2-3 hours a week at the moment!
