A DMU calls at Swan Village station, West Bromwich, circa 1960.  Swan Village was situated on the GWR main line from Birmingham Snow Hill to Wolverhampton Low Level.  The train is heading in the Birmingham direction and in the distance can be seen Hill Top tunnel, beyond which lies Wednesbury and the route to Wolverhampton.

M51136 at Coventry on 17/04/87.  This 'special' was the Nuneaton-Coventry shuttle service, just before it officially became part of the timetable.

As a bonus, some contemporary cab ride footage of this very line cropped up on YouTube in the last few days:

Complete with broken windscreen

Did that service have its equivalent of 'bomb alley'?

Or could've been caused by a bit of ballast.
