Rivercider
What was that very short platform with the step access and very 'secure' looking building for on the left-hand side of the first photo? Andy beat me to it, I was thinking along the same lines. Note the large carriage sidings in the background for Llandudno traffic which is now a hotel, marina and housing sitedeganwy.jpg That is not carriage sidings for Llandudno, they were much closer to Llandudno station. The carriages are on the sidings at Deganwy Harbour which was IIRC for the export of slate.

chrisf
Is Bristol Zoo anywhere near there? Otherwise, I can't think of any obvious reason for most people to be in the area. It is. In the good old days excursions were run to take schoolchildren to and from the zoo. They were known by some as 'monkey specials'. I do not think that the 117 in the picture is working such a train but a service train where demand in excess of the capacity of the single unit was expected. See reference to good old days above! RMweb Gold Huw Griffiths Posted October 17, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 17, 2016 Changed my mind, but the system won't allow me to delete this particular post(only allows the 'edit' option, not 'delete') Sort of. What it does allow you to do is "hide" the post in question - which (as I understand it) is all you've ever really been allowed to do on pretty much any forum site. I believe the authorities in a number of countries expect it to be possible to trace / recall any web posts - including ones that have been deleted - presumably in case of any (particularly) illegal activity. However, there's nothing to stop unwanted / now irrelevant posts being removed from public view - which I believe to be what actually happens when you hit the "delete" flag on any forum site with this facility. (I'm aware of one well known forum site which, when I was active there, only allowed you to do this for a short time - half an hour - an hour - something like that.) In some ways, this reminds me of some countries requiring broadcast radio and TV stations to hold on to a copy of everything they broadcast for a certain length of time. Huw.
