Rivercider
I have less DMU photos from the London Division of the Western Region than from the other Divisions This was once a very common scene The 10.30 Slough to Paddington service formed by class 117 set L421 calls at Acton Main Line, 11/4/83 At Oxford another once common occurence Two more class 117 sets are seen here, sets L408 and L426 stand in the platforms at Oxford, 10/7/81 cheers
PoshPaws
It is a hybrid. Class 110, 101, and 110. But I see what you mean about posts and pillars. They can be such a problem. Rob. I think most of those centre cars added to the 110s in the mid 80s were actually from withdrawn 111s.

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted May 16, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 16, 2017 Cant get that last pic to post the right way up, despite being the right way round on my computer! It might be due to the size (in pixels) - try reducing the height to 1200.

DavidB
Loving the photos of one of my favourite types of DMU - they were a core and much-loved part of the first 25 years of my life here in the Thames Valley. I have a resin and brass kit for a Gauge 3 Pressed Steel unit (suitably produced by Risborough-based Garden Railway Specialists, just one hundred yards down the road from the bay platform in your first and fourth photos) - at 3 feet in length, it's going to be one heck of a large model when I finally build it. I haven't investigated yet, but I would love to find a way to reproduce the gentle side-to-side rocking motion that was so characteristic of a single unit running on its own. Thanks for sharing the photos, David

Popular Post bingley hall
From the wayback in time machine. One of the better images obtained from my Canon Dial half frame camera. I used to love seeing these things, they were just so unusual. One of ten motor parcels vans built by Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Co, in 1959-60 for the British Railways' Midland & Western regions. Class 128 M55990 seen at Manchester Victoria on 8 September 1972 during a week long All Britain Rover holiday, paid for with six-weeks of school holiday office work in the City. Yes I was a couple of days late back to school! Edited July 30, 2017 by bingley hall

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted November 9, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 9, 2017 Hello, everyone. Well history has been made! The sole surviving 2-car Cravens class 105 DMU on the East Lancashire Railway has just returned to service after 21 years. Here's the video that was made of it on that historic day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhsW6boKQl4 Best regards, Rob.

EddieK
Apart from the Cravens unit, that weekend saw the return to service of the Three car Calder Valley set after 18 months of work and of the former Churnet Valley based Class 104 power twin after a three year rebuild of the Motor Brake, work that was completed on the Friday night before entering service on the Saturday.

dibber25
ADB975659 at Westbury. Just noticed one end has odd buffer heads, one oval and one clipped. dmu_westbury.jpg dmu2_westbury.jpg I've got a feeling she'd had those odd buffers for years. I recall noticing a green unit in the 1960s with odd buffers. (CJL)

Some fantastic work has gone on there but the atmosphere of the 60s destroyed by god awful red bulbs! They must be conveying royalty as prior to 1982 two tail lamps indicated a royal train What's wrong with an oil lamp especially on a gala day?
