A friend of mine had a couple many years ago, back in the days when Lima was the best we could buy here in the UK other that Fleishmann, and to see it craw over a hand built trestle Bridge at about 5mph and all the movements going on along the side and no spluttering, no noise and more importantly no stalling over Points due to it's many pick ups was just magical.

There's no chance I'm going cuck"O" but there is a slight chance things might turn ugly. I stood staring at those shiny brass shays for ages.

More here

Great selection of pics. there, I notice a couple of Heislers and Climaxes had sneaked into the lineup! I love those logging engines especially as I lived close to Erie and Corry where the Heislers and Climaxes were built. Had a cab ride in a Shay on the Cass, sounded just like an LMS Jubilee with that 3 cylinder beat but at 10 mph rather than 70!

Things have been happening in the warehouse this week despite the cold.

A heater has been purchased. Another uninvited guest was found dead behind the water tower. So I decided to take action and make some door seals.

These are nothing more than 30mm wide strips of old carpet glued and stapled to 2"x3"s which have been screwed up tight to the up & over doors. The doors still open but there's very little in the way of a draft.

All the trains have been removed from the layout ready for the next part of the Grim-up-North project. While I've got the layout apart I can install some more signals and now that I have the kits, more uncouplers will go in.

The lighting and lack of trains gives a rather depressing atmosphere to the scene.

I suppose no post would be complete without at least one train.

Yes, it might be grim oop tut norf, but the modelling is very impressive.

G.

I dunno bout grim oop tut norf. It's grim out west 'sarfternoon. Visibility was down to 30 yards on I5. I had to ask Mrs. S. to slow down after hitting an aquaplaning situation which triggered the airbag warning light.

I reckon you should move the skeletal remains of your latest visitor to the grounds of the abbey - they would go well together, very "gothic horror" :)

Al

We can't be having any "Gothic Horror", we're British. So we'll deal with things in a true British bulldog manner.

When the nasty monster from across the pond (a dead potato bug) did indeed make it's way to the Abbey, a British heritage site. 3 para got called in...

I didn't know that Aus Medical Tech had got so far advanced  ............

G'day Gents

Couple years ago, we had a plague of Locus passing through BooBorrowie, I used to hang out the back door, and belt them with a tennis racquet, got a few aces.

manna

.............    so as to be able to share them  ..........   using a tennis racket seems a touch extreme as a method of delivery   :O   ...........  must be a product of the vast distances and shortage of cows.   :scratchhead:

This is a little off topic.

Our dogs have been barking a lot at night this week, so we're more than a bit tired. Yesterday I was called to help a neighbor who had flat tires on her little tractor. She was rushing about trying to get some jobs done before last nights snow. I noticed she was armed with big hand gun. This was due to another unwanted guest. A bear! who has moved into the neighborhood and who has been making a huge mess with everybody's trash.

Yeah. And there's me faffing about out there after dark thinking it was a fox upsetting the dogs. The thing must have been on our front porch because one of the log piles has been disturbed.

Squatch. Wishing he had a huge tennis racket.

G'day Gents

At least the Kangaroos in the garden are cute !

Suppose you named the bear Rupert..........

manna

Just don't try and get it to wear those check trousers... It won't end well!

Al

Unfortunately I don't think it will end well. Giving it a name is a good idea actually. If people become associated with it, maybe it wont get shot.

That's the trouble with gun ownership, once you have one you need an excuse to actually use it.

I say padlock your wheelie bins and let the guy run free!!

Anyway I prefer to be a bit more constructive so dug out the acrylics this morning and did some more figures as my mood took me.

Capturing them with the super macro under the table lamp light wasn't easy. I'm happiest with the seated lady who kind of looks like a member of the Women's Voluntary Service. There's been a bit of kit bashing here. Some of the workmen have passengers heads and vise-versa.

I've also used two of those Ratio under frame kits for replacement of Mainline under frames.

Nope, can't resist, is the bloke on the right of the second photo doing the chicken dance, because somebody nicked his barrow?

Al

A butterfly flaps its wings causing events on the other side of the world.

It's nothing compared to your lawn mower  I must admit.  I started with painting the Dapol barrow. It has a hat box added.

The colour I needed for the truck is a mix of Jungle green and Kelly green acrylics, which is very close to LNER station green. 50/50 and a full pot of it to be kept int' fridge for future use.

post-8964-0-95994800-1481171560.jpg

Then I found some box car ladders and used wheels from a Coopercraft platform trolley..

post-8964-0-91771200-1481171501.jpg

Voilá. Two platform barrows.

post-8964-0-01189900-1481171547.jpg

...and dare I risk a super macro of the WVS lady.
