Rugd1022
Thats where I meant, come down the hill turn left and opposite the corner of the new building. There was the boiler house and ODM building on the road junction with the turntable behind. The Pullman shed was used to stable the Breakdown Train in the 80s, but only once it was diesel powered. Prior to that it sat outside the ammenity block in light steam, the shift crane driver tending to it. It was used as a paint shop for GWR 150 repaints, and subsequently NSE repaints. The only time the factory was used for painting was when Royals were being prepped, or accident damage touch ups. Dave 1660 'City Of Truro' and 1661 'North Star' were both repainted from green to blue in the Factory in '71 Dave - 1660 was done in a rush as it was needed down at Truro station for the 're-opening ceremony' of the relaid goods yard on 7th November, it's nameplates were painted red on this occasion, and 1661 was sent back out into traffic with no BR double arrow logos as there were none in the stores. D1059
What do you mean 'early build'? The Romainan-built ones were 56001-56030. 56031-onwards (including this one) were built in the UK. After the Romanian build, 56031 onwards were built in the UK, initially to the same design, but the later members of the class had a modified cab (eg horn grill was an open grid rather than partly plated) - can't remember the changeover number
Classsix T
56055 was the last to be built with that style of cab, bufferbeam cowling etc. 056 onwards had a more angular look to them, as stated, with a full square mesh horn grille. Classsix T
I've just remembered, if anyone has a picture of the other end of 56049 at Old Oak, she should be sporting the later style cab, replaced decades ago following a prang! C6T.

Ah, time for caption with the bottom one as 'a certain someone' is obviously saying to his colleague 'But it isn't at all like that on a 'Castle'.
