Can I suggest the next topic is images taken from inside a train. E.g. Out a window, interior etc.

Approaching Top points on the Zig Zag Railway in NSW (in the years before the fire of course) with a 3 position semaphore at 'clear'

Three railways?  No the double track electrified line at the bottom is the present mainline, the other two are restored sections of the original zig-zag route

Signal at Top Points - the signal which is off will take us towards the viaduct seen on the highest level line in the second picture

Looking down from the highest level to the one we had climbed to reach Top points and the 'new' mainline at the bottom.  Some of Top Points' signals can be seen in the background

In 2006 my son suggested we had a boys' excursion to do Canada coast-to-coast by rail.

These are a couple of his shots from a Dome car on the Canadian between Mount Robson and Jasper.

We had been held up because of a failed freight train. It took about three hours to get it shunted clear into one of the loops, which then caused a knock-on effect because of having to work a double length single line section.

Some of the passengers on our train were due to change at Jasper for Prince Rupert but we were so late that the connection would be missed. We stopped at a passing loop between Mount Robson and Jasper where they were detrained along with their baggage then the Prince Rupert train came in from the opposite direction to pick them up.

On board one of first trains on the Lynton & Barnstaple that had anywhere to carry people, even it it was only a guards van. I'm pretty sure it was the first to carry a dog too, but I didn't take a photo of him! 11th May 2003.

During the journey, the train staff dress up and put on a bit of a dance
