I'm very jealous... I'll be watching with interest how you get on (and Linny), to see if it would be worth me getting one when time and finances allow

Goodness...

Some trading with Mr L49 of this parish has resulted in the following acquisitions:

- A 3-Car set of C69 Underground Stock

- A 3-Car set of 1923 Metropolitan Railway Stock.

- Bodies for a 3-Car set of A60 Underground Stock.

- A finished GWR 9700 Pannier body (3D Printed)

- A Metropolitan Railway A Class 4-4-0T (3D Printed)

- An ex-MR Johnson 0-6-0T body (3D Printed)

- An LNER F4 Body (3D Printed, but overscale so I'll use it for an O-16.5 project)

- An SR Lined Black Hornby E2

Much of this is out of my modelling period, but it's also nice to have and I'm very grateful for it! I've long been a fan of most things LT and have always quite liked the look of the 9700 panniers... Might need to put that one into GWR Green though - does anyone know if they were built early enough to have a shirtbutton? I'm pretty sure they weren't old enough to have 'GREAT WESTERN' lettering though.

Edit - I stand corrected:

  • SR B4x 4-4-0. See above.
  • LBSCR K 2-6-0. Nu-Cast (?!) or 3D Printed. Chassis (donor?) yet to be indentified.
  • LBSCR J 4-6-2. Golden Arrow. Golden Arrow Productions sell a resin body for old Hornby B12 Chassis, yet to be purchased.
  • *snip*
  • LBSCR I3 4-4-2T. S.E. Finecast? Or 3D printed

Depends on how much quicker than us you are, but a good friend of mine has very nearly finished his CAD for the LBSC J, the B4x is next, followed by the I3 (which i would suggest to go with the finecast chassis, and a 3D body if possible). I have the 3D printed K on my desk at the moment to finish for him!

A very exciting list though!!

I am also always on the lookout for unusual 3D prints which may or may not be public. Always of course happy to pay the going rate. The Metropolitan Railway A Class 4-4-0T print sounds very interesting. Can you post a pic please, Sem?

I'm afraid the CAD has recommenced with various horrific, or maybe interesting, little machines emerging on the screen...

image.png.d71676235df56d52ba87779f3ebc3bfc.png

A decidedly freelance Manning Wardle 0-6-0ST for 009. Although there is a chassis there it is also designed to fit the Kato 103 chassis.

:O A friend inspired this - A 2ft Gauge SR Electric Unit, this being Bulleid's 4-BUB (Baby SUB)...

image.png.b226b13e33e7f0d7ad6f44efb8214aec.png

An adapted ex-District Beyer Peacock 4-4-0T for my fictional District & South Western Junction Railway scheme. It's supposed to resemble an ex-District machine that's been reboilered with an Adams boiler and with a cab adapted from the original District weatherboard.

What I am actually supposed to be doing - A CAD model of the goods store on the up platform at Medstead & Four Marks, showing potential locations for a project of mine.

Looking very good! If I may be slightly critical, the tank on the Manning Wardle looks a little high - is that to cover the motor? If you haven't already you may want to model the motor and wheels in place - there are plenty of times that I've measured something to fit, then it turns out it didn't fit the print...

The height is because I can't remember the height of the chassis, so I've made it large enough that it definitely ought to fit...

I was mostly playing rather than doing anything serious - I will remodel it properly at some point.

I've done a little titivation on my C69 stock set - Destinations and a little interior detailing, also reattaching the bogies. Need to sort some inter-car couplings out.

I think I'm gradually getting better at this lining lark...

In other news, I've had some dangerous ideas...image.png.b34d7632cfaeef751253b03906eac9de.png

I know the terrier chassis has been used like this before, but I'm just playing around with different ideas.

Definitely some good ideas.
Put the Nellie as a 2-4-0T. You don't see many turned into those.

Also you really need to strip the paint on that saddle tank mate. Looks like someone failed at making black pudding and tried using the mix as paint instead.

I'm torn between the different 4-coupled arrangements, and don't worry, that body won't be used. Speaking of terrible paint jobs...

See, that's actually a really nice 0-8-0T. The paint job is the only major issue. A repaint, some couplings, maybe refit the dome and cab roof as they seem slightly raised, and that'd be lovely.

What is that second tank engine? Don't recognise it.
Also a Jinty and an E2 are good acquisitions to get. Like the Pannier as well.

Yeah - I didn't do a good job on that loco, but I did try to sort the dome out. I expect I will replace it - It's the 0-8-0T from earlier in this thread, and I do like it which is why I made it!

It's a Metropolitan Railway A Class 4-4-0T, a fairly standard Beyer Peacock product.

This is the slightly more interesting 2F version, with condensing gear for London tunnel working and extra lamp irons for LBSCR through workings.

The E2 was stupidly shiny, so I've turned it down, and although the Pannier is too modern for my general modelling period it ought to fit with my 'London-Area' stuff.

I like fictional engines but as long as they could work in the real world and I fear that the Manning Wardle would be very unstable on such a narrow gauge with the tank being so high and wide.

What are the chassis that are shown with the Nellie bodies?

I agree! It was just a bit of boredom...

Two of my Hornby (Old) Terrier chassis - One of them was converted to 4-Coupled format when I was contemplating modelling No.81 Beulah in 2-4-0 format, but with the release of new Terrier models this has been abandoned.

Sem - the reboilered ex-Met tank is a great idea!

It's not an ex-Met tank! Ex-District... ;) But that's not the one I've got the print of.

Exactly. I always try and make sure my freelance locomotives are realistically feasible when I build them.
