A day or so later a pair of Centro-liveried 150s pass at Harlech.

That's taking me back :) I really liked those days holidaying on the coast when I was about 5 or 6, seeing the same trains as I got back home!

Along the tree lined corridor that is the current state of this part of the line between Bradley Junction and Bradley Wood Junction, a Northern class 150 approaches on 14th May 2023 with a service from Leeds to Huddersfield via Bradford Interchange.

Rather a three-quarters view I know, but hopefully redeemed by having four IETs...

I image this viewpoint must be in the top ten for the UK.

All we need now is that shot with an HST in one platform and a steam rail tour as well. It’s a great picture.

Funny you should say that Phil, as I did see a Jubilee steam past, though I wasn't expecting it...

A Class 8xx entering Moreton in Marsh station at 11:26 on Friday 19th May.  It was a bit late, as it should have arrived at 11:18:

The same one leaving 2 minutes later, passing under the Fosse Way bridge, over the location of the old Stratford - Moreton tramway:

Peter, that is NOT a three-quarter view!  The common shot is as with the front of the train 50yds below the bottom of the frame; still a three-quarter but normally with a lot of background.  I prefer yours though.

Looked a tad different back in April 1998. Taken on a walk-out surveying the route prior to re-opening. I suppose this shot could also qualify for the 'Ghosts in the machine' thread.

And a good job of the re-opening you and others made too.

Without it the hourly Northern service between Huddersfield, Halifax and Bradford Interchange wouldn’t be in the timetable.  Nor would the direct connection to London Kings Cross from this part of West Yorkshire, provided by Grand Central.

Interesting to see Moreton-in-Marsh again; I lived in Moreton in the mid-1990's, used to like seeing the evening HST come through.  Shame it's such a simplified track layout (there were more sidings near the signalbox; I recall Networker DMU's terminating here) and not sure I like the massive new footbridge, but good that the line has been doubled in the Chipping Campden direction, and the services seem better and more frequent now than when I lived there.  Thanks for posting the photographs :)

Something suitably summery?  My foster-daughters were chucking a ball around on the beach at Criccieth yesterday morning, and a 158 rolled by so thought I'd try a slightly cheesy composition :)

156452 heads north away from Blaneau Ffestiniog

Now that's a reminder of just how grim the area around Blaenau F. could look. Get a winter day with lowering clouds and drizzle and the greyness just takes over - a special kind of hell drained of all colour. It made a big impression on me as a child - and I still think it worse than anything in South Wales, even the South Wales of the 1960s, before they implemented schemes to restore and "prettify" the coal tips.

Yours, Mike.

I was waiting to photograph a XC HST crossing the Tyne over the King Edward Bridge (which didn't materialise) the other evening when a two-coach northern DMU appeared on the far High Level Bridge. Ramping up the telephoto setting I managed this picture. I'm not a DMU expert - is this a Class 158?

Parts of five of the seven bridges between Newcastle and Gateshead are visible in this picture, the missing ones being the Swing Bridge (it's too low and out of shot) and the Redheugh bridge (I'm standing on it!)
