BernardTPM
I'd disagree with the US National Library of Medicine. Those places should be designated as 'prime selfie zones' to help whittle down the number of idiots in the world.
Steamport Southport
Hi Jason They are so 20th century, holding their phones to their ears. The modern phone is a handheld computer connected via the cell network of telephone mast. As James stated people stand there holding them in front of themselves and staring at the screen. You can't see what Mandy has been eating this lunch time with it held to your ear. Edit, Or what that stupid fat bald bloke Mortimore has been doing as he waste his time on RMweb. It's alright. My phone is in the hall attached to the wall.... I'm supposed to have one for work. But that's not happening. Jason
alanbuttler
I’m writing this on my mobile as I travel back home on the train from London, it strikes me that on each station we pass, from big to small, anything between 75% to 90% of people are glued to their mobile phones, maybe even more! Hi James, just a quick heads up that once Warley is out of the way I will be trawling through the 1000+ scans I've taken at exhibitions over the last 4 years and creating a range of contemporary figures (with peoples permission sought first). There are many scans on file of people using phones, ipads, reading books etc so I should hopefully be able to assist in the new year!

You scanned us last autumn 2017 at the Great Electric Train Show at the car museum (I think we were the first group you did) This included our teenage daughter who was siting looking at her phone. We would be more than happy for you to use that?

RMweb Gold tomparryharry Posted November 8, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 8, 2018 As we speak, 2018, I'm still wearing what is essentially 1950's clothing. Yippee! I'd fit straight in! "Cor Blimey Mary Poppins, I look right tasty on Snapchat!" Remember, that people throw back the good, and 'not so good'. So you will need a goodly representation of Little Britain amongst your ranks. Not everyone lives in suburbia.
brianusa
As we speak, 2018, I'm still wearing what is essentially 1950's clothing. I must admit to being amazed at the number back home usually getting on and men, who do still wear a dress shirt and tie along with a sports coat and perhaps suede shoes. Here, old and young dress the same, jeans, tee shirt and silly hat. Sadly ladies too are not as fashion conscious as they once were, in fact dressed very similar to men. Femininity is out the door and jeans do not look good on oversized bods on either gender! Brian.
Jongudmund
Given the public health news we need to be using more plastic round the middle of a lot of figures as well.

MarkC
And don't forget the 'dress code' for those out <ahem> 'socialising' of a night. Rule of thumb for females, the colder the weather, the skimpier (or more 'under load' ) the clothing...
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted November 9, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 9, 2018 And don't forget the 'dress code' for those out <ahem> 'socialising' of a night. Rule of thumb for females, the colder the weather, the skimpier (or more 'under load' ) the clothing... And don’t forget the defiantly unsuitable footwear, heels especially. After they’ve been to a couple of venues they are crying out for something more comfortable. In Torquay, maybe elsewhere, people called Street Pastors hand out free flip-flops to the victims. Rule of thumb for females, the colder the weather, the skimpier (or more 'under load' ) the clothing... Back in the 1980s, a Polish film crew, and one from Tyne-Tees, filmed in wintertime in Newcastle and Gdansk respectively. The Polish crew were so shocked by the (lack of) clothing of the denizens of the 'Bigg Market' that they wanted to organise clothing bundles from Poland to protect them from hypothermia, until it was explained that these people had plenty of warm clothing; they just chose not to wear it.
