bike2steam
As an aside, last night I went to the Joe Bonamassa gig at the B.I.C. Tonight he is in Birmingham for the last gig of this short tour, but is back in this country next October, be advised, beg, borrow, or even steal a ticket, you will not be disappointed - he is fantastic, you will not see a better master of the guitar. Mucky Duck
The sublime Suzanne Vega on BBC R2 I listened to her lovely Solitude Standing LP for the first time in ages only yesterday! She is very relaxing. Right now, trying not to listen to the cacophony of passing ambulances and police cars… and the local dogs that seem to howl for ever when they hear sirens! Guest Max Stafford
John Barry's 'Ipcress File' soundtrack. So evocative of a damp, smoky 1960s cityscape. Sometimes it makes me think of West Berlin, sometimes a grotty old goods yard in 1964 Glasgow or a back street in east London! Barry at the height of his creative power! Dave. Tim H
Deep Purple, Come Taste the Band. With the late Tommy Bolin on guitar.
Nickinwestwales
Tommy Bolin was a great player & a sad loss-but wasted on Deep Purple:-they just wanted `son of Blackmore`-and he wasn`t as good as he thought he was....... So,listening to....stuff for the band mostly,Sheryl Crowe-winding road (pinning down the `open G ` tuning on the 2nd guitar) ,Weather with you,the one I love,(Don`t you need )Somebody to love,Last train to Clarksville, several by Michelle Shocked-all with Nashville tuning on the 2nd guitar, and for pure pleasure:-some very cool early Zeppelin on the T.V the other night-my, word Bonham was a brilliant skinsman ,a dash of the late great Alex Harvey (the faith healer),a soupcon of Curved Air (back street love) ,a refreshing blast of Hawkwind (Brainstorm -live) then -the only way to finish the night-the Stones -get yer Ya-ya`s out..........................And so to bed Sleep well Nick
